摘要： In the control of pests in gas-tight spaces using gaseous phosphine, concentrated phosphine gas is passed through a phosphine-permeable dividing wall and then immediately combined with air to give phosphine-air mixtures with concentrations below self-ignition limits. Control of pests in gas-tight spaces comprises: (a) providing a source of phosphine (PH3) in concentrated form; (b) conducting the concentrated gaseous phosgene from the source into an air stream through a PH3-permeable dividing wall such that the introduced PH3 is immediately diluted at its point of introduction to below the concentration limits for self-ignition of PH3-air mixtures; and (c) introducing the resulting PH3-air mixture into the space to be fumigated. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for performing the method comprising a tube fitted in its central region with at least one gas inlet manifold having a porous or PH3-permeable dividing wall with a flat outlet area; the tube can be combined with inlet and outlet pipes for a pressurized air stream; and the manifold can be combined with a concentrated PH3 gas source.

摘要： A synthetic turf comprises a backing with a plurality of pile filaments secured to the backing and extending upwardly therefrom and filled with particulate fill material. The pile filaments create a grass-like appearance for the playing surface. The fill material comprises a lower ballast layer of gravel residing on the backing and an upper layer of resilient particles above the lower layer. The lower layer of gravel provides weight and stability to hold down the synthetic turf without migrating to the surface. The upper layer provides cushioning and uniform resilience for the synthetic turf.

摘要： A golf practice mat provides, on an upfacing surface, a plurality of mutually aligned artificial grass blades that extend upwardly. The grass blades include a portion of longer fixed length and a portion of shorter fixed length. The longer blades second angle exceeds the first angle. The ends of the longer blades extend above the ends of the shorter blades. The shorter blades have a longitudinal rigidity and density of placement on the practice mat so as to support a golf ball at a desired height above the practice mat; the height determined primarily by the shorter blades. The longer blades have a flexibility and density of placement on the mat that provides a natural feel to a golf club driving through the blades.

Yttrium phosphate may be used as a protective overlayer to protect an underlying mullite layer to temperatures in excess of 1,500null C. The coating may have porosity of greater than 15% for improved thermal shock protection. To prevent the ingress of oxygen to an underlying ceramic non-oxide material, such as silicon carbide or silicon nitride, an oxygen barrier layer (34) is disposed between the xenotime phosphate coating and the non-oxide material. Such a protective overlayer may be used for an article having a ceramic matrix composite substrate.
