    • A trim press article handling apparatus (12) and a method includes a frame (42), a punch (22), a die (24), and a treadle (10). The punch (22) and the die (24) carried by the frame (42) cooperate in relative movement to sever articles (14) from a web (16). The treadle (10) moves relative to the die (24). The treadle (10) includes a web guide member (100), a primary guide strip (98) spaced from the guide member (100) slighlty greater than a thickness of the web (16), a secondary guide strip (198) spaced from the guide member (100) at least four thicknesses of the web (16) and spaced apart from the primary guide strip (98), and an article detector (80) carried by at least one of the primary and the secondary guide strips (98,198). The article detector (80) detects position of an article (14) in the web (16) by detecting the position of a protuberance in the web (16) as the protuberance is conveyed between the primary and the secondary guide strips (98,198).

    • A roll type stock feed apparatus having one feed roll rotatably mounted on a stationary frame structure, and a second feed roll mounted on a movable roll carrier and yieldably urged into a stock engaging condition. An electro-responsive servomotor is drivingly connected to at least one of the feed rolls for driving the feed rolls through a preselected feed cycle. An elongated ram position sensor is slidably mounted on the stationary frame structure for lengthwise reciprocation along an upright path and is yieldably urged upwardly relative to the frame structure to a preset raised position on the frame structure. A cam on the ram position sensor member engages a cam follower on the movable roll carrier and is operative in response to movement of the sensor member downwardly from the preset raised position to move the roll carrier and the second stock feed roll to a stock release condition.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper post-processing apparatus improving the quality of a booklet by stabilizing conveyance of the booklet by retreating a conveying member with a large friction coefficient and allowing the booklet to slide on another supporting member to reduce the frictional force of conveyance when the booklet is positioned on a cutting device.SOLUTION: The booklet 25 folded at the center by the post-processing device 9 is conveyed to the slightly downstream side of a cutting position by the conveying member 44a, and drive of the conveying member 44a is stopped. The upper surface of the conveying member 44a is lowered below the upper surface of the supporting member 44c and stopped, and the booklet 25 is allowed to be supported by the supporting member 44c. An abutting member 44b is lowered below a contact surface between the booklet 25 and the supporting member 44c. The abutting member 44b is then moved to the upstream side in the conveying direction and is brought into contact with the center-folded face of the booklet 25. Further, the booklet 25 is allowed to slide and move to the cutting position while adjusting the posture, by which positioning is carried out without sliding on the conveying member with the large friction coefficient.
