摘要： A simulated wood burning sound system, including an electronic circuit that provides the "crackle" sound of a combustible wood fire. The system includes a programmed electronic sound chip that stores a recorded memory of wood burning sound. A volume control potentiometer adjusts the audio volume of the sound being transmitted through a speaker and is adjustable to simulate a range of sound effects from a quite fire to a roaring fire. A temperature sensitive sensor for detecting heat or a light sensitive sensor controls automatic startup and shutdown. In addition, a power switch has a permanent "on" position for testing the unit and for applications, such as a simulated fire, where a sensor is not applicable. A plastic housing protects the circuitry and provides a mounting base.

摘要： The present invention provides a trashcan or wastebasket that has lights and sounds simulating a fire that are activated when trash is thrown inside or on the verge of being thrown inside. One particular activation method consists of sensors housed at the top of the trashcan that detect when trash is thrown in. Once the trash is detected, the walls of the trashcan light up and flicker with an orange color like a fire and crackling fire sounds play. The lights and sounds play for a short interval and then stop until trash is detected again.

In this manner, from eighteen (18) digitally prerecorded sounds of the preferred embodiment ninety (90) individually selectable and/or combinable sounds are made available. In either embodiment, natural or other sounds may be stored in loop or sound bite format in either or both of the internal and external memories. In a further sound relaxation and sleep-inducing embodiment, first and second preselected sound patterns selected respectively to mask sound and soothe the listener and to induce a state of deep relaxation that helps the listener to fall asleep may be selected by depressing combination mode select and sequential sound selector switches. The stored segments are re-assembled into a sound sequence of arbitrary length based on selecting the next sound segment according to some statistical algorithm. The selected algorithm may be simply a random or pseudo-random selection, or it may provide a probability weighting to emphasize some sound records over others, or some combination of factors also affected by external stimuli such as light, heat or operator input. Apparatus for generating random sequenced digital sound are disclosed. Another aspect of the invention is logical sequence sound in which the selection of sound segments proceeds according to a logical sequence which is programmable.

摘要： An electrical noise generation circuit for use in conjunction with an electro-acoustic transducer to simulate the sound of burning wood. A small loudspeaker enclosure accommodates a battery driven circuit in which a wideband electrical noise signal is produced by current flow through a zener diode. The noise signal is amplified by a frequency selective amplifier designed to have a high gain at a selected frequency in the audio frequency range, and rectified to produce unipolar signals which have randomly variable amplitudes and occur at random intervals. The unipolar signals are amplified by an amplifier having an adjustable input threshold bias. By adjustment of the bias level, output signals from the amplifier, and sounds produced by the loudspeaker, may be varied from intermittent individual pulses to rapid "bursts" of pulses. Operation of the circuit in proximity to an artificial log fire produces a surprisingly realistic audible simulation of wood burning sounds.
