    • There is provided a surface luminous source panel comprising an irregular reflection layer carrying on it a large number of irregular reflector specks and arranged on the surface of a transparent substrate. The reflection layer has a parallel pattern section having an area of irregular reflector specks per unit length of the layer which smoothly increases with the distance from a light source along the panel; and a regulating pattern section located close to the light source and partially surrounded by the parallel pattern section. The regulating pattern section has a hill-shaped contour starting from the edge close to the light source and an area of irregular reflector specks per unit length of the layer also smoothly increasing with the distance from the light source but at a rate smaller than that of the parallel pattern section. Such a surface luminous source panel can provide a luminous source with very evenly distributed brightness and therefore find useful applications in, for example, word processors and display stands.

    • There is provided an edge light panel having a very even brightness. The edge light panel equipped with an irregular reflection layer and surrounded by a front surface diffusion layer, a rear surface reflection layer and peripheral edge reflection layers is additionally provided with margin reflection layers arranged along the front margin of the edge light panel, except along the peripheral edge juxtaposed with a primary light source. While the margin reflection layers may be separately arranged, they may also be integrally formed with the peripheral edge reflection layers, the rear surface reflection layer and the front surface diffusion layer. A narrow gap is advantageously provided between the edge light panel and the front surface diffusion layer and/or the rear surface reflection layer.

    • Plane optical guide lighting device comprising an optical guide (1) made from a main transparent material in the form of a plane plate having a front side (2) and a rear side (3) on which is placed an object, an image or a labelled structure (4). The optical guide (1) further includes a luminous edge (5) illuminated by lighting means (6). Between the object (4) and the surface (3) is an object-illuminating or a semi-reflecting layer for filtering, stopping down or dimming the light from the plate (1). A layer made from a material with a refractive index substantially equal to that of the optical guide (1) can be interposed between the semi-reflecting part and the object to be illuminated (4).
