    • Provided is an apparatus for detecting a change in a specific gravity of a fluid surrounding the apparatus wherein the fluid moves upwardly and downwardly with respect to the apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing having a top and a plurality of openings for allowing the fluid to enter the housing. A first floatation device is provided having a first specific gravity and being located within the housing. The first floatation device includes a magnet. A second floatation device is provided having a second specific gravity and located within the housing adjacent said first floatation device. The said second floatation device includes a magnet aligned to have the same polarity as the magnet of the first floatation device. A switch fixedly attached to said top, the switch having an open state and a closed state where when one of said magnets is in proximity to the switch, the switch is in a closed state and wherein when both of said magnets are in proximity to said switch, the switch is in an open state. A signaling device is coupled to the switch wherein said signaling device is activated when the switch is in the closed state.

    • PURPOSE:To measure the sp. gr. of a liquid in a hole accurately and simply in the original position and to make handling easy in simple structure by detecting the displacement of a float during the ascendance and descendance due to the sp. gr. of the surrounding liquid in the hole or the stress for ascending or descending the float by a detector such as a differential transformer and a load cell. CONSTITUTION:The float 4 is supported by two springs 2, 7 put at the upper and lower ends and a coupling shaft 10 in a frame shape probe main body 1. The space between a differential transformer 5 and the shaft 10 is sealed axially by a bellows 11 and first and second seals 12, 13, and a liquid such as silicone oil 14 is sealed in the inner part. The cable connecting a coil 15 of the transformer 5 and the ground is taken out to the outer part of the body 1 through in a hollow tube 16. The sp. gr. of the liquid in the hole can be measured accurately and simply at the original position by such probe for measuring sp. gr. of the liquid in the hole. This probe is extremely effective for the system detecting the layer in the hole and for controlling muddy water in a working site constructing under ground continuous wall.
