    • An ignition timing device (10) for timing an engine having a timing port (12) includes a sensor (16) securable in the timing port (12) to provide a timing mark signal (13). An ignition sensor (18) is adapted to provide an ignition signal (19). A comparator (22) receives the timing mark signal (13) and the ignition signal (19). The comparator (22) provides an output signal (23) indicative of substantial simultaneous occurrence of timing mark signal (13) and the ignition signal (19). An indicator (24) receives the output signal (23) and is operable as a function thereof.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for starting an internal combustion engine and a method for the starting mechanism reducing burden of a driver. SOLUTION: Ignition spark from a spark plug of the internal combustion engine can be controlled by the starting device as a function of rotation speed of a crank shaft. When rotation speed is lower than rotation speed under an idling condition, phased increase of early stage adjustment of ignition angle before top dead center is performed as the function of crank shaft rotation speed. As rotation speed of the crank shaft rises, rotation speed of the crank shaft continues from sudden decrease of early stage adjustment of ignition angle to a flat section of rotation speed range under an idling condition.     • PURPOSE:To obtain two kinds of ignition signals, having different ignition timings, by a method wherein the rising and falling of the output signal of a photoelectric pickup, annexed to a disc equipped with a plurality of slits and synchronized with the revolution of the engine, are utilized. CONSTITUTION:When the disc 31 is rotated in synchronizing with the revolution of the engine, the slits cross the photoelectric type pickup 32, consisting of a light emission diode and a photo-transistor, successively, and the leading of the output signal is utilized as a pulse for the igntion timing upon idling while the trailing thereof is utilized as the pulse for the ignition timing upon starting. The output signals are inputted into AND circuits 18, 19 through monostable multivibrators 33, 34 together with the outputs of a starting sensor 16 and an idling sensor 17. The signal, passed through one of the AND circuits 18, 19, is inputted into a thyristor 6 through an OR circuit 20 to conduct it and a main capacitor 7 is discharged, thereby impressing a high voltage to an ignition plug 13.
