Der pneumatische Druckwandler (12') enthält in einer ersten Druckkammer (11) eine vom Ansaugluftdruck (p L ) beaufschlagte evakuierte Membrandruckdose (18), der in einer an eine Luftdruckquelle (14) angeschlossenen zweiten Druckkammer (13') eine in ihrem Innern (35) vom Atmosphärenluftdruck (p A ) beaufschlagte zweite Membrandruckdose (34) entgegenwirkt. Beide Druckdosen sind über ein ein Ventilglied (15') tragendes Betätigungsglied (21') verbunden, und das Ventilglied (15') reduziert den Servoluftdruck (ps) auf einen dem absoluten Ansaugluftdruck (pL) proportionalen Steuerluftdruck (pst), der das gegen eine Rückstellfeder und den Atmsophärenluftdruck arbeitende Membranstellglied (28') betätigt.

    • A method of controlling operation of an internal combustion engine over part of the load or speed operational range of the engine by the use of fluid pressure available from a source associated with the operation of the engine to effect a managed control of at least one operating parameter of the engine such as engine speed or fuel delivery including fuelling rate and timing, or ignition timing. The fluid pressure is preferably derived from a source where the pressure varies in relation to variations in the engine speed and/or load or from a substantially steady pressure source, applied in a selective manner to effect the control. Preferably, the fluid pressure is derived from the gas in the crankcase of a two stroke cycle crankcase scavenged engine or from another source where the pressure of the gas is cyclic in a known waveform and provision is made to selectively apply the high and/or low portion of the pressure wave to control means to effect the control of the engine operation.

    • A control arrangement for the injection quantity of an internal combustion engine in which an adjusting member for the adjustment of the feed quantity of a fuel injection pump is adapted to be adjusted by a longitudinally displaceable diaphragm bolt of a pneumatic measuring mechanism by way of a control lever, whereby the diaphragm of the pneumatic measuring mechanism is acted upon on the one side by atmospheric pressure and is exposed on the other side thereof to the pressure in a vacuum chamber connected by way of a vacuum line with a part of the suction pipe of the internal combustion engine where the vacuum in the suction pipe is being picked-up particularly in a Venturi pipe section thereof; the control lever is thereby pivotally supported with its end opposite the adjusting member of the injection pump on a part operatively connected with the engine output control member and is adapted to be adjusted about this point of pivotal support by the diaphragm-bolt engaging in the central area of the control lever; additionally, the control lever is adjustable within the pivot plane thereof by the part actuatable by the output control member of the internal combustion engine; additionally, the flow cross section of the Venturi pipe section and therewith also of the suction pipe of the internal combustion engine is not adapted to be throttled so that the cross section remains essentially constant.
