    • An easy-opening closure for hermetic sealing of the open end of a packaging container includes an end member for being double-seamed to the open end of the container and having an interior ledge portion defining a large central opening and a composite lidding member of at least two polymer layers defining a predetermined peel strength at an interfacial plane for controlled delamination of the two layers. The composite lidding member covers the central opening and is bonded to the ledge portion to define a bond strength greater than the peel strength of the two polymer layers. The lidding member has a continuous ring-shaped notch cut into the bottom polymer layer adjacent the ledge portion and a discontinuous ring-shaped notch cut into the top polymer layer and spaced inwardly from the first notch to define a small unnotched portion between its ends and to define with the first notch a ring member therebetween which is connected at the unnotched portion to the central portion of the lidding member. With this construction, the force required to open the closure from the inside of the container is greater than the force required to open the closure from the outside of the container. The closure is circumferentially opened by upward pulling of the bonded overlapping portion of the composite lidding member to cause delamination and peeling of the top polymer layer from the bottom polymer layer bonded to the end member in an area between the first notch and an outside circumference of the lidding member and removal of the ring member between the first and second notches.

    • An easy-opening closure for hermetic sealing of the open end of a packaging container (100) includes an end member (20) for being double-seamed to the open end of the container and having an interior ledge portion (23) defining a large central opening (24) and a composite lidding member (30) of at least two polymer layers (35, 36) defining a predetermined peel strength at an interfacial plane for controlled delamination of the two layers.     • An easy-opening closure is provided for hermetic sealing of the open end of a packaging container. The closure includes a composite end for being double-seamed to the container and having an interior ledge portion defining a central opening through the closure. The composite end includes at least two polymer layers defining a predetermined peel strength for delamination and a formable substrate layer bonded to the bottom one of the polymer layers and adapting the end member to be double-seamed to the container. The end member has a notch cut into the top polymer layer in the ledge portion which is spaced from and surrounds the central opening. A lidding member covers the central opening and has a portion overlapping and bonded to the top polymer layer in the ledge portion of the end member to define a predetermined bond strength greater than the peel strength of the two polymer layers of the end member. With this construction, the force required to open the closure from the inside of the container is greater than the force required to open the closure from the outside of the container since the closure is easily-opened by upward pulling of the bonded overlapping portions of the lidding member to cause delamination and peeling of the portion of the top polymer layer bonded to the lidding member from the bottom polymer layer beginning at the notch and continuing to the central opening.

    • A molded plastic container having a weakened portion of its wall which may be severed by a pushing or pulling action using one or more fingers of the hand to allow dispensing the contents of the container through the resultant opening. In one form the weakened portion is defined by a channel in the wall defining an open loop of reduced wall thickness. Severance may be effected of the material inwardly of the open loop by pressing inwardly with the finger of the hand. In another form, the loop defined by the channel in the wall is closed and is irregularly shaped to permit it to be manipulated or grasped by the finger to assist in severing the tab and/or to permit the tab to be pulled out once it is partly severed. The method for forming the channel is also provided.

    • PURPOSE: A drink can having a cover tip is provided to promote sanitary use of a drink can and easiness in management and treatment by adopting a cover tip for closing an opened drink hole portion selectively. CONSTITUTION: A cover tip(2) is set on a rotatable shaft portion(15) of an opener tip(13) in an upper cover(12). The cover tip has a side fixed to the rotatable shaft portion but slightly larger than the opener tip of a drink hole. The other side of the cover tip having a fan shape is positioned under the opener tip in a perpendicular direction. The drink hole is opened when a user removes a hole tip(14) of the drink hole by using the opener tip. If the user leaves a specific amount of liquid drink in a drink can(1), the user closes the drink hole with the cover tip. Thereby, the liquid drink in the can is kept regular without losing carbonic acid if the liquid drink in the can is a kind of carbonic acid drink. In addition, the liquid drink does not overflow when a shock is applied to the drink can having the drink hole opened.
