    • A trim tab for a power boat comprises a first portion adapted to attach to a transom of the power boat, a second portion adapted to contact, at a variable angle, a fluid in which the power boat is being operated to control a trim angle of the power boat, and a live hinge adapted to hingedly affix the second portion to the first portion. The first and second portions may be constructed of aluminum. The live hinge may comprise a strip of a thermoplastic polymeric material having a relatively thin center section spanning a gap between the first and second portions and having relatively thick edge sections on opposite sides of the center section. The thermoplastic polymeric material may comprise polypropylene. The first and second portions may each define a gap for receiving one edge section of the live hinge.

    • A hydrofoil-shaped stabilizer or attitude-changing means for boats, having an elongated frame assembly adapted to be connected to a submerged portion of the hull of a boat with its longitudinal axis parallel to the fore-to-aft axis of the boat. A flexible curtain assembly extends about the frame assembly and is fixed thereto but free to move laterally and to a more limited extent longitudinally relative to the frame assembly. The interior of the curtain assembly communicates with the surrounding water and is deflected to one side or the other relative to the frame assembly by its displacement relative to the water caused by a change in the attitude of the boat so as to form a hydrofoil having a camber for generating forces to oppose the change in attitude to one side or the other when the boat is underway.

    • Provided is a floating wind power generation device comprising: a main buoyant body which has buoyancy, so as to float on the sea, and has a space portion provided in the center; an auxiliary buoyant body which has buoyancy and is connected to the main buoyancy and is connected to the main buoyant body by being inserted into the space portion of the main buoyant body; a plurality of wind power generators which are vertically provided on top of the auxiliary buoyant body and generate power; a location control means which is connected to the main buoyant body and controls the location of the main buoyant body; an oscillation inhibiting means which is connected to the main buoyant body and enables the main buoyant body to maintain an equilibrium state by absorbing the sea waves; and a dock connection unit which is connected to the main buoyant body and enables a ship to lie at anchor on the sea. A floating wind power generation device, having a plurality of wind power generators provided on top of an auxiliary buoyant body that is placed in a space portion of a main buoyant body, enables absorbing of the sea waves by means of vertical reciprocating motion energy, generated by means of an oscillation inhibiting means as well as a location control means, so as to prevent the main buoyant body from being affected by the waves and shaking and such that an equilibrium state of the main buoyant body can be maintained, thereby enabling stable wind power generation.

    • A recline chair for use in an office or home is designed, with associated furniture, for the performance of tasks while in such chair such as reading, writing or operation of a computer or word processor. The chair is designed to be used with an ottoman and includes a seat (25) and back (20) both reclinable rearwardly with the back being reclinable to a much greater extent. The back and arms (18) are pivoted at an ideal natural body pivot point (17) of the user and the seat is pivoted (24) at its front but reclined through a suspended linkage (28, 29) from the arms but through a much shorter pivot arm so there is not upward lifting of the users legs. A headrest (44) is mounted on the back and is extendable about an arc which is struck from the ideal pivot point of the head and back of the user. The headrest includes a special cranial support (131) which may be vertically adjusted within the headrest itself. Both the headrest and the seat and back are provided with separate actuators (69, 39) which tend to urge the headrest to its extended position and the seat and back to the upright position. Each actuator includes a locking mechanism and separate control means are provided for each lock mechanism in the respective arms. The lock mechanism of the headrest and backrest is engaged as a result of the weight of a user sitting in the chair and can only be released through its control. The controls are enabled as a result of the weight of the user in the chair. The chair is brought to its upright position automatically if the user should leave the chair in its reclined position. This is accomplished through a special interlocking control mechanism in each arm of the chair actuated by the presence or absence of a weight on the seat.

    • Methods are disclosed for increasing lift and decreasing drag on hydrofoils and swim fins. Methods are disclosed for providing a hydrofoil with a substantially longitudinal recess or venting system located substantially along the center axis of the hydrofoil. Methods also include providing the attacking surfaces of hydrofoils with an anhedral contour that forms a substantially lengthwise channel with the recess or venting means located along the center axis of this lengthwise channel. Methods are also disclosed for arranging a central recess or venting system to permit water to flow through it toward the lee surfaces in order to reduce the occurrence of outward directed spanwise flow conditions along the attacking surfaces and encourage inward directed spanwise flow conditions to occur along the attacking surfaces. Methods are disclosed for applying lift generating and drag reducing methods to both non-flexible and flexible hydrofoil blades that are used in reciprocating propulsion strokes through a fluid medium. Methods are also provided for controlling and reducing the build up of torsional stress forces within a flexible hydrofoil as it is encouraged to twist to a reduced angle of attack during use.
