摘要： An adaptive brake control system monitors a plurality of brake pipe/air line parameters, such as fluid path volume and air flow rate, and controllably modifies action taken by the engineman or performs emergency control of the brakes, in order to continuously enable the braking system to adapt itself to dynamic operating conditions and anomalies in the integrity of the fluid path. In accordance with a pressure reduction modification mechanism, the application of a pressure reduction to the equalizing reservoir (105) is precisely controlled by taking into account the actual state of the brake pipe (101), so as to ensure that the requested brake application is effected as intended. The control mechanism also monitors the integrity of the fluid flow path of the brake pipe (101)/train air line (201), so that the engineman may be alerted and a prescribed train safety measure may be effected in the event of a potentially hazardous anomally in the link. It also provides the engineman with a precise indication that the brakes (233) of the train have been fully released or applied.

摘要： The brake system comprises a compressed air control valve (1), brake cylinders (4 and 5), an air brake reservoir (3) and a change-over switch (6). The compressed air control valve (1) is connected to the main air duct (2). The change-over switch (6) has a housing (7) with compartments (8, 9, 10), valves (11, 12) and shafts (13, 14). One compartment (8) is connected to the compressed air control valve (1). Another compartment (9) is connected to the first brake cylinder (4). A further compartment (10) is connected to the second brake cylinder (5). A valve (11) is assigned to the connection between compartment (8) and compartment (9). Another valve (12) is assigned to the connection between compartment (8) and compartment (10). According to the conditions in which the required pressure force is produced by a rail vehicle travelling on tracks of varying gauges, the change-over switch (6) is placed in a position whereby the compressed air control valve (1) is connected solely to the first brake cylinder (4) and the second brake cylinder (5) is disconnected, or placed in a position in which the compressed air control valve (1) is connected solely to the second brake cylinder (5) and the first brake cylinder (4) is disconnected, or placed in a position in which the compressed air control valve (1) is connected to both the first (4) and the second (5) brake cylinders.

摘要： A combined hydropneumatic brake cylinder/air reservoir device having a hydraulic piston formed on the end of a push rod through which interconnected, different sized, pneumatic pistons operate to transmit the desired brake force. The hydraulic piston operates in a hydraulic cylinder having a slack adjuster piston arranged to supply or reduce the hydraulic fluid in the braking circuit in order to compensate for overtravel and undertravel of the pneumatic piston assembly due to brake shoe wear and brake shoe replacement respectively. The double-acting slack adjuster action results in the stroke of the pneumatic piston assembly being maintained constant to assure continued optimum operating efficiency.

摘要： A brake cylinder maintaining system produces a brake cylinder reference pressure based on the difference between the brake pipe pressure and the auxiliary reservoir pressure and then feeds that pressure to a choke and a volume so that the ratio of the reference area of the choke to the volume of stored brake cylinder reference pressure is substantively equal to the ratio of a brake cylinder charging valve area to the brake cylinder volume. The resulting reference pressure may be used to adjust brake cylinder pressure by providing the reference pressure to a standard quick service limiting valve or to a relay that can selectively charge or exhaust the brake cylinder.
