    • A method and apparatus for vulcanizing pneumatic vehicle tires where the tire beads, in the mounted state, are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a rim next to the essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. In order to obtain tires having a long service life and tire beads with a good sealing quality, it is proposed that the tire be vulcanized in essentially the proper contour for operation. Two, respectively radially segmented, bead-forming rings that have a variable diameter and can be displaced axially are provided. For the purpose of vulcanizing the sealing surfaces disposed in the interior of the tire so that these surfaces will rest on the rim in an airtight manner, the bead-forming rings are introduced, in a radially retracted state, into the interior of the tire blank, whereby at least one of the tire beads is ovally deformed. The segments of the molding rings are subsequenty extended to an annular radial diameter whereby the molding surface portions of the molding rings can be moved axially outwardly over the tire beads without deforming the latter. The molding rings are then moved axially outwardly over the tire beads and then retracted to their smallest diameter, and are locked into position, whereupon the tire blank is vulcanized in a mold.

    • A tire curing press and method are characterized by a center mechanism operative first to center the top bead of a green tire carcass with respect to the top mold section and then the bottom bead with respect to the bottom mold section, and to hold the beads centered and axially separated as the press closes to cause the beads to register and seat with the toe rings of the top and bottom mold sections simultaneously as the press closely approaches its closed condition. The center mechanism comprises top and bottom segmented annular clamping rings adapted to engage and shape the axial interior of the bead area of the tire and respective chuck assemblies including a multi-faceted linear cam and respective followers for each ring segment operative to collapse each alternate ring segment and then each other ring segment. The clamping rings achieve automatic loading, centering and unloading and may be used individually or paired in bladder or bladderless curing.

    • Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Vulkanisierverfahren für Fahrzeugluftreifen, deren Reifenwülste (3) in montierter Stellung am radial inneren Umfang einer Felge neben sich im wesentlichen nach radial innen erstreckenden -Felgenhörnern angeordnet sind. Um Reifen hoher Haltbarkeit und mit gut dichtenden Reifenwülsten zu erhalten, wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Reifen im wesentlichen konturgerecht vulkanisiert werden, daß zum Abheizen der im Reifeninnenraum liegenden Dichtflächen für ein luftdichtes Anliegen des Reifens an der Felge zwei radial geteilte, im Durchmesser veränderbare und axial verschiebbare Wulstformringe (6) im eingefahrenen Zustand in den Innenraum des Reifenrohlings eingebracht werden, wobei mindestens einer der beiden Reifenwülste (3) oval verformt wird, daß die Formnngsegmente anschließend auf einen radialen Ringdurchmesser ausgefahren werden, mit dem die Formringe (6) mit ihren Formflächenteilen ohne Verformung der Wülste des Rohlings axial nach außen über diese hinweggeschoben werden, daß die Formringe anschließend wieder auf ihren kleinsten Durchmesser zusammengefahren und danach verriegelt werden und daß schließlich der Reifen in der Vulkanisierform vulkanisiert wird.

    • Along a building line, a green tyre is built on a rigid toroidal support having an outer surface substantially conforming in shape to an inner surface of the green tyre. The green tyre is then transferred to a bead moulding and prevulcanisation station where each bead of the tyre is moulded by tightening it between a surface portion of the toroidal support and an annular clamping surface carried by a removable tightening flange. The tightened beads are prevulcanised through a heat supply by means of electric resistors integrated into the tightening flanges. The tyre with the prevulcanised and tightened beads is transferred into a moulding cavity having an inner wall of a shape substantially conforming to that of the outer surface of the moulded tyre, to carry out moulding of the tyre and complete vulcanisation of same.
