    • The water aerator using a compressed gas container is a self-contained unit having a float and a container of compressed gas (e.g., air, oxygen, etc.) installed beneath a perforated diffuser plate that, in turn, is positioned below the float. High-pressure gas from the container flows through a pipe or tube to a regulator valve and pressure gauge at the top of the pipe. A larger diameter low-pressure pipe or tube is placed concentrically about the high-pressure pipe. Regulated low-pressure gas flows down through the outer low-pressure pipe to a dispensing nozzle below the diffuser plate, whereupon the gas flows upward and is broken up by the perforations in the diffuser plate to form smaller aeration bubbles. An electrical power source, pressure switch, and light may be provided to indicate when the compressed gas container is depleted. The device may be motorized.

    • The water aerator (10) using a compressed gas container (32) is a self-contained unit having a float (26) and a container (32) of compressed gas (e.g., air, oxygen, etc.) installed beneath a perforated diffuser plate (18) that, in turn, is positioned below the float (26). High- pressure gas from the container (32) flows through a pipe or tube (24) to a regulator valve (38) and pressure gauge (40) at the top of the pipe (24). A larger diameter low-pressure pipe or tube (22) is placed concentrically about the high-pressure pipe (24). Regulated low- pressure gas flows down through the outer low-pressure pipe (22) to a dispensing nozzle (34) below the diffuser plate (18), whereupon the gas flows upward and is broken up by the perforations (20) in the diffuser plate (18) to form smaller aeration bubbles. An electrical power source (48), pressure switch (50), and light (46) may be provided to indicate when the compressed gas container (32) is depleted. The device (10) may be motorized.

    • An assembly of immersed filtering membrane modules on the order of a cassette or larger are aerated in a series of air-on or high flow rate periods, each in the range of 0.5 to 20 seconds long, separated by longer air-off or low flow rate periods, each in the range of 5 to 40 seconds long. A manifold is in fluid communication with one or more aerators. The manifold and aerators are located in association with the assembly of immersed filtering membrane modules. The assembly of immersed filtering membrane modules are provided with a burst of air from the plurality of aerators. The aerators may be fed with a continuous supply of air. The assembly of immersed filtering membrane modules may be connected together in a cassette or rack. Air from the aerators in the form of bubbles may be redirected and / or dissipated into smaller bubbles with a deflector before they contact the assembly of immersed filtering membrane modules.
