    • An absorption muffler for flowing gases and particularly for exhaust gases from internal combustion engines comprises a housing which is of oblong shape and has spaced apart semicylindrical short side walls, with long side walls on each side which are synclinally drawn in the middle thereof. Parallel inlet and outlet pipes are connected into the front wall and extend substantially up to the rear wall, and they are located in substantially parallel relationship centered within the respective short side wall semicylindrical portions. An inlet channel is defined on the interior of the housing which extends in a helical curve around the inlet pipe, which in one embodiment has a single convolution and in another embodiment has a plurality of convolutions. This inlet channel connects to a similarly constructed outlet channel designed around the outlet pipe through an obliquely extending connecting channel. The inlet channel comprises either a single convolution or a plurality of convolutions. Both the inlet and the outlet pipes are enveloped with a spacing by a surrounding wall, which has an unperforated surrounding wall portion which overlies a perforated portion of the respective inlet or outlet. Sound damping material is provided along the length of the inlet and the outlet channels and the connecting channel, and fills the wall space between adjacent convolutions of the inlet and outlet channels and the space between either one of the convolutions and the wall of the chamber, and between the connecting channel and the wall of the housing.

    • A fluent fuel burner capable of efficiently overcoming high system resistances to combustion gas flow by providing a construction which includes a housing that contains at least one combustion air fan whose rotor is straddled by airflow channels extending along its radial sides and discharging through the fan outlet into a by-pass which communicates with a collecting chamber located within range of the burner discharge nozzle and the diffuser. The collecting chamber includes a guide element which cooperates with the by-pass to virtually provide an axial approach to the diffuser thereby resulting in a compact construction with very low airflow pressure losses.

    • The invention relates to a vehicle heater with two circuits. One circuit leads from the vehicle's engine via a heating device and a heat exchanger back to the engine. The other circuit leads from the heating device via the heat exchanger back to the heating device. These two circuits may be automatically switched by a single valve, a two-way valve structurally combined with a check valve, so that no auxiliary power, e.g. current from the vehicle battery, is needed.

    • A metering fluid pump including a cylinder and a pumping piston movable therein, the cylinder being configured to define a liquid inlet chamber on one side of the piston and a liquid outlet chamber on the opposite side of the piston. A suction valve for the inlet chamber and a pressure valve for the outlet chamber open simultaneously when the piston is moving in a first direction to simultaneously pump liquid out of the outlet chamber and draw liquid into the inlet chamber. Both valves close when the piston is moved in a second reversed direction to transfer the liquid through a constricted conduit from the inlet chamber into the outlet chamber. In a second aspect of the invention an accumulator may be provided which receives liquid under pressure from the inlet chamber and which transfers the liquid into the outlet chamber when the piston is moved in the second direction and is at the end of its transfer stroke.
