    • Catalyst consisting of a reaction product with at least one organomagnesium and/or organo lithium-containing compound of formula R Li (R =alkyl) or ArLi (Ar=phenyl or benzyl), of the reaction product of a compound of formula (Cp)2MX2Li(OR2)2(M=lanthanide, scandium, yttrium; (Cp)=optionally substituted cyclopentadienyl; and R=alkyl), with at least one bidentate ligand, such as beta -dicetone or beta -ketone imine of formula CZ3COCHZCDCZ3, Z being selected from halogen, alkyl and H, D=O, NH or NR (R=alkyl or aryl); and phosphorus ylide R 3P=CA-CO-R , R being selected from alkyl and aryl; A=alkyl or H. Advantageously said catalyst can be in solution form containing, at least partially, an aromatic hydrocarbon. The ethylene polymerization process can be carried out at a temperature in the range of 20 DEG -250 DEG C, at a pressure of up to approximately 200 bars, in solution or in suspension in an at least C6 inert hydrocarbon or can be continuously carried out, in at least one autoclave or tubular reactor, at a temperature in the range of 150 DEG -300 DEG C, and at a pressure ranging from 400-2000 bars, the reactional medium being in a hypercritical state.

    • The compositions contain a) less than 90% and at least 2% by weight of at least one ethylene polymer (A), and optionally, at least one .alpha.-olefin having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms, said polymer containing at least 70% in moles of patterns derived from ethylene, and b) more than 10% and up to 98% by weight of at least one polymer (B) containing at least 85% in moles of patterns derived from at least one .alpha.-olefin having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms and at the most 15% in moles of patterns derived from ethylene, and are characterized in that the polymer (A) is a modified polymer of which the measured limit viscosity is comprised between 1.3 and 100 times its limit viscosity calculated from the distribution of molecular masses. The compositions are obtained by a process consisting in providing a polymer of ethylene and, optionally, of at least one .alpha.-olefin having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms in the presence, on the one hand, of at least one initiator of free radicals in a quantity comprised between 0.001 and 0.3 parts by weight of the initiator for one hundred parts by weight of said polymer at a temperature higher than the melting temperature of said polymer during a time at least equal to one tenth of the half life time of the initiator at the temperature considered, and, on the other hand, of at least one polymer (B). Application to the production of industrial articles by extrusion-blowing of sheaths or hollow bodies, extrusion of films by means of flat dies, roto-moulding, injection or coating.
