摘要： A connector has a housing (1) and retainer mount hole (8) is open in the housing (1) from its bottom surface over to its opposite side surfaces. Upon being moved from a partial locking position to a full locking position, A retainer (7) can be moved from a partial locking position to a full locking position and is guided obliquely forward by guides (22-25). Thus, the retainer (7) can be constantly guided to a specified position regardless of a variation in the fitted position of the retainer (7) in the retainer mount hole (8) along forward and backward directions. Since the retainer (7) and terminal fittings (4) can constantly have a proper positional relationship, a problem of a varying function of the retainer (7) to detect the insufficiently inserted states of the terminal fittings (4) due to a variation in the fitted position of the retainer (7) can be solved.

Maneuverable recesses (24) maneuverable by a disengagement jig (60) from front are provided at positions on the front surface of each lock (13) retracted from the locked terminal fitting (30) and within a width range of a locking surface of the lock (13) engageable with the terminal fitting (30) and located more toward the base end of the locking portion than the locking surface.

The bottom surface of each lock (13) has a convex arcuate surface (13c) and each lowered portion (12a) of the bottom wall (12) has a recess (12b) substantially conforming to the convex arcuate surface (13c) to accommodate the convex arcuate surface (13c) when the lock (13) deforms.

Elongated projections (50) extend from a surface of the main body (11) opposite the stabilizer (17). If the male terminal fitting (10) is inserted upside down, the elongated projections (50) contact a bottom wall (24B) at the entrance of a cavity (24) during the insertion to shift the male terminal fitting (10) transversely. Thus, the stabilizer (17) is caught deeply by a ceiling wall (24C) at the entrance. As a result, the male terminal fitting (10) is prevented from any further insertion.

A preventing surface (27) is provided at the peripheral rear edge of the cavity (11) and abuts the stabilizer (47) when the female terminal fitting (30) is inserted in an improper posture. An angle of the preventing surface (27) to the inserting direction is less than an angle of the slanted guide surface (22).

A moving plate (40) has a shape whereby a side wall (42) protrudes upwards from circumference edges of a base plate (41) having maintaining holes (44) adapted to receive tabs (24) of male terminal fittings. This moving plate (40) can be inserted in a movable manner within a hood (22) of male housing (20). A first sealing ring (51), for sealing the space between the moving plate (40) and an outer circumference face of the female housing (10), is formed on an attachment base of an inner circumference face of an anterior end (42A) of the side wall (42). A second sealing ring (52), for sealing the space between the moving plate (40) and in inner circumference face of the posterior end (42B) of the side wall (42). These sealing rings (51) and (52) are formed in a unified manner, by means of two-component molding, on the moving plate (40).
