    • An image forming apparatus includes a suction unit; a pressure unit configured to pressurize the inside of a supply channel extending from a liquid container to a recording head at a pressurizing position along the supply channel; an opening and closing unit configured to open and close the supply channel at a position downstream of the pressurizing position; and a control unit configured to cap a nozzle surface with a cap and suction ink from nozzles with the suction unit, to move the cap away from the nozzle surface after pressurizing the inside of the supply channel with the pressure unit to a pressure greater than or equal to atmospheric pressure, to wipe the nozzle surface with a wiping part after closing the supply channel with the opening and closing unit, and to open the supply channel with the opening and closing unit after wiping the nozzle surface.

    • A preceding vehicle detection device according to one embodiment of the invention includes a data obtaining member and a specifying member to specify a preceding vehicle among other vehicles. The data obtaining member obtains a driving status amount data of one of the other vehicles running right in front of an own vehicle by using a detection device of the own vehicle, and a driving status amount data of each of the other vehicles by using an inter-vehicle communication. The specifying member obtains statistical amounts representing a data similarity and preceding vehicle probabilities based on each of the statistical amounts and a predetermined relationship. Then, the detection device calculates a final preceding vehicle probability for each of the other vehicles based on the preceding vehicle probabilities, and specifies the preceding vehicle based on the final preceding vehicle probability.

    • A recovery apparatus for recovering an ejection state of an ejection opening is disclosed. The recovery apparatus includes a cap member to seal an ejection surface of a droplet ejection head for ejecting a droplet from the ejection opening, and an absorber mounted in the cap member and to absorb ink attached to the ejection surface, so that the ink within a sealed space is suctioned and discharged. The absorber includes, when the ejection surface is sealed with the cap member, a first absorbing part to face the ejection surface at a first side where the ejection opening is provided through a first gap and a second absorbing part to face the ejection surface at a second side where the ejection opening is not provided through a second gap, wherein the first gap is greater than the second gap.
