    • To provide a two-cycle internal combustion engine capable of preventing the blow-by phenomenon to improve fuel economy and attain a high exhaust gas purifying performance, and increasing the responsiveness of fuel injection volume. In a two-cycle internal combustion engine, a chamber is disposed in scavenging passages for communicating a crank chamber to a combustion chamber, sealable control valves are respectively disposed in an inlet and an outlet of the chamber, and a fuel feeding system for the supply of fuel into the chamber is provided. The chamber is communicated to one scavenging passage out of a plurality of parallel scavenging passages. The combustion chamber side control valve disposed at an outlet of the chamber on the downstream side of the crank case side control valve provided at an inlet of the chamber, is positioned at the bottom portion of a scavenging passage communicated to the chamber.

    • A combustion controller for a two-cycle engine which enables to cause self firing always at the optimum timing is provided. The combustion controller comprises an exhaust control valve 15 provided in the vicinity of an exhaust port 7 of the two-cycle engine 1 and capable of fully closing the exhaust port and driving control means 47, 38, 39, 40 and 37 to drive the exhaust control valve 15 according to a control map giving an exhaust opening ratio .theta..sub.e depending at least on the engine speed and the throttle valve opening ratio .theta..sub.th in order to control the pressure in the cylinder during up-stroke of the piston 8. The exhaust control valve 15 is formed by a thin shell-like member comprising an exhaust control portion 35 substantially along the cylinder curvature in the exhaust port 7 and wider than the whole width of the exhaust port and a swinging arm portion 34 for connecting at least a side of the exhaust control portion and the rotational shaft 33 perpendicular to the cylinder axis and accommodated in a receiving recess formed in the cylinder block. This receiving recess is communicated with the exhaust passage extending from the exhaust port 7 only in the working zone of the exhaust control portion.

    • An exhaust control device for a two-cycle engine which does not impart a change of a shape of an exhaust passage. An exhaust control device is provided in an exhaust port opening to an inner peripheral surface of a cylinder hole of a two-cycle engine wherein a cylinder wall portion adjacent to the exhaust port is formed with a rotational face obtained by rotating an arc having substantially the same curvature as the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder hole about a rotational axis C.sub.1 extending at a right angle to an axis C of the cylinder hole in the outside of the cylinder hole and a recess defined by both ends at a right angle to the rotational axis C.sub.1 and in communication with the exhaust port. Within the recess is mounted an exhaust: passage member having an exhaust passage in communication with the exhaust port and having an external shape substantially similar to the recess with a predetermined clearance formed relative to the recess in a portion above at least an upper edge of the exhaust port of the rotational face portion and the both end portions. A valve body is provided which comprises arm portions respectively inserted into the clearance in the both end portions and supported for swinging about the rotational axis C.sub.1 and a control face portion provided by connecting ends of the arm portions together and movable in and out of the clearance in the rotational face portion in response to the swinging of the arm portions.

    • To provide a compact two-cylinder engine in which adjacent cylinders are located close to each other. In the two-cycle engine of the present invention, the scavenging passages of scavenging ports adjacent to the exhaust ports are flat or elongate in their cross section and extend to the sides of the exhaust ports. This structure allows the cross-sectional area of the scavenging passages to be sufficient, but allows the width of the cylinder section between adjacent cylinders to be decreased. Furthermore, in the two-cycle engine of the present invention, the exhaust passages of the cylinders are arranged in the direction substantially orthogonal with the direction of alignment of the cylinders, and the exhaust control valves are positioned near the exhaust ports in order to control an opening amount of the exhaust ports. The exhaust control valves are rotatably supported by a pivot extending substantially in parallel with the juxtaposed direction of the cylinders, and are turned in a plane which is parallel with the opening direction of the exhaust ports.

    • An exhaust passage for connecting to an exhaust port of a cylinder is provided. The exhaust passage includes a first path extending in a direction generally orthogonal to the central axis of the exhaust port. A second path connects the first path and the exhaust poil and a control valve is provided in the first path. The rotational axis of the exhaust control valve is generally parallel to the direction in which the first path extends. The surface area of an opening connecting the first path and the second path is variable as the exhaust control valve rotates, so as to carry out controlled combustion and exhaust timing. This makes it unnecessary to provide a hollow section for housing an exhaust control valve and bearing at a position close to the exhaust. It is also possible to reduce the size of a cylinder block and to realize smooth flow of exhaust gases by making the inner peripheral surface of the exhaust passage smooth.
