    • An image display device according to the present invention comprises a back panel on which a plurality of pixels each having a thin film electron emitter are arranged two-dimensionally, a front panel disposed opposite the back panel on which phosphor layer is formed, and a sealing frame with which the back panel and the front panel are fixed mutually to seal the plurality of pixels and the phosphor layer in a space enclosed by the back panel, the front panel, and the sealing frame, and is characterized in that double-layered signal lines each electrically connected to a group of the plurality of pixels are formed on the back panel, each of the double-layered signal lines consists of a lower-level electrode made from a silver paste and an upper-level electrode covering at least a part of the lower-level electrode laminated in this order on the back panel. The lower-level electrode is shaped e.g. by coating a groove formed in a surface of the back panel with the silver paste, and a surface of the upper-level electrode is used e.g. for an electrode of the thin film electron emitter, also. According to the configuration, the present invention reduces wiring resistance of the signal lines each electrically connected to the thin film electron emitters as well as improves planarity of each tunneling junction of the thin film electron emitters to suppress dispersion of electron emission property thereof among the pixels.

    • The present invention is directed to providing a technology for display devices where a transparent cover is pasted on a display panel according to which inconsistencies resulting from expansion of the polarizing plate in the vicinity of an end portion caused by moisture can be prevented, and the adhesive can be prevented from sagging when the display panel and the transparent cover are pasted together. A display device according to the invention is provided with: a liquid crystal display panel having a first substrate, a second substrate provided on the viewer side of the above described first substrate and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the above described first substrate and the above described second substrate; and a transparent cover pasted on the surface of the above described liquid crystal display panel on the above described viewer side using an adhesive. The above described liquid crystal display panel has a polarizing plate between the above described second substrate and the above described transparent cover. The above described adhesive covers the entirety of a side of the above described polarizing plate, and the form of the outer periphery of the above described adhesive in a plane is uneven.

    • A method of manufacturing a transflective liquid crystal display device including a plurality of pixels each having a reflective display part and a transmissive display part, and a color filter substrate including a retardation plate built in an area of a principal surface of each pixel opposed to a liquid crystal layer, which corresponds to the reflective display part, the method including in the following order: (1) a step of forming an underlayer for aligning molecules of the retardation plate; (2) a step of applying a photosetting material of the retardation plate onto the underlayer; (3) a first exposure step of selectively curing a part of the material of the retardation plate, which corresponds to the reflective display part, by light radiation through a mask; and (4) a second exposure step of heating the material of the retardation plate while exposing an entire surface thereof to light to cure the material of the retardation plate. As a result, a process of manufacturing the transflective liquid crystal display device is simplified while preventing the retardation plate from being colored.
