SOLUTION: A rotary valve 54 is installed at the lower section of a saucer 52 of a hopper unit 44 for storing grains and is rotated while the hopper unit 44 is moved on a sample plate 76, thus allowing the grains on the saucer 52 to gradually fall onto the sample plate 76. As a result, the grains are scattered over the entire surface of the sample plate 76 nearly on the average, and there hardly occurs any roughness and fineness between adjacent grains. Additionally, a valve sheet 56 prevents the grains from falling from the rotary valve 54. Furthermore, no special tools or the like are required and workability is increased, thus shortening treatment time.
