    • Disclosed is a connecting rod for a hermetic compressor including a piston connecting portion 20; a body 22 having an end connected to the piston connecting portion 20; a crankshaft connecting portion 24 connected to a different end of the body 22 and extending a predetermined length so that a curved surface is formed, an inner peripheral surface of the crankshaft connecting portion 24 making surface contact with an outer peripheral surface of a sleeve 28 fitted to an off-center pin 5b of a crankshaft 5; and a clamp 26 fastened to both ends of the crankshaft connecting portion 24 and exerting elastic force for retaining the sleeve 28 on the inner peripheral surface of the crankshaft connecting portion 24. The sleeve 28 does not deform, even when retained on the crankshaft connecting portion 24, and makes uniform surface contact with the off-center pin 5b, which is inserted into the sleeve 28. This substantially reduces the abrasion of the sleeve 28 and the off-center pin 5b and improves the compressor's efficiency.

    • A connecting rod for a hermetic compressor is provided.     • A method for fabricating carbon electrode coated with a porous metal film includes the steps of: positioning a roll of carbon material within a vacuum chamber; winding the carbon material off the roll at a certain speed, winding the carbon material on a different roll while coating a porous metal to a thickness of a few Řa few &mgr;m on the carbon material between the two rolls from a metal evaporation source; and stabilizing the thusly coated carbon material under a vacuum.
