    • A method facilitates simultaneously balancing mechanically coupled, synchronously rotating rotors. The rotors have different axes of rotation relative to one another and together define a rotor group to be balanced. Each rotor has at least one of a bearing plane and an other measuring plane associated therewith, the other measuring plane significantly describing vibrations of the each rotor. The rotors within the rotor group together have a number of different angular velocities associated therewith. At least one rotor of the rotor group is equipped with at least one vibration pickup in at least one of each bearing plane and the other measuring plane thereof. As many impulse and phase transmitters are installed in the rotor group as are provided the number of different angular velocities associated with the rotors within the rotor group. At least pertaining vibration signals and a pertaining speed signal are recorded simultaneously, with regard to a respective one of each bearing plane and the other measuring plane. For each bearing plane and the other measuring plane, the coefficients of influence thereof are determined by applying a method of coefficients of influence and setting defined test unbalances. At least one corresponding matrix of coefficients of influence is generated, and a counterbalance mass distribution from the at least one corresponding matrix of coefficients of influence is determined for every operating balance plane of the rotor group. Each bearing plane and measuring plane define one test balance plane.

    • Cylinder that includes at least one stationary portion and at least one rotatable portion and a support and a method for sealing the same. The at least one rotatable portion includes a bearing axle rotatably coupled to the support, and the at least one stationary portion includes at least one stationary connection that is rotatably coupled to the bearing axle and that is adapted for at least one of inserting and removing at least one of a heating and cooling medium through the bearing axle. The method also includes coupling at least one stationary connection to the bearing axle for relative rotation, and positioning at least one brush seal between the at least one stationary connection and the rotatable member.

    • In a dryer section comprised of several drying groups, and particularly an alternating single tier dryer section, one of the bottom felted drying groups is arranged with respect to the paper machine floor so at least the rotating shafts at the axis of the drying cylinders of the one drying group are below the paper machine floor. The guide rolls of the bottom felted drying group and of an adjacent top felted drying group may be in one horizontal shaft plane above the paper machine floor. An intermediate floor is provided beneath the main machine floor and the bottom of the basement beneath the one drying group. Easier access to the drying cylinders and elements of both top felted and bottom felted drying groups is obtained.

    • Process and apparatus for operating an apparatus to drill holes in the shell of a paper machine cylinder. The apparatus includes a stationary framework supportable on the paper machine, a feed frame that is radially movable along the stationary framework relative to the shell, and a drive unit. A plurality of drilling modules are coupled to the feed frame, which are rotatable via the drive unit, and the drilling modules include a drive shaft, at least two spindle heads, and at least two intermediate shafts arranged between the drive shaft and the at least two spindle heads, in which at least one of the at least two spindle heads in each drilling module is rotatable about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling modules. The process includes rotating at least one of the at least two spindle heads about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling module arranged between a drive shaft and the at least one spindle head, such that a mutual distance between spindle shaft centers of the at least two spindle heads in the drilling modules is adjusted.
