    • The invention relates to a deep drilling device (1) that can be used for inserting bores into work pieces (41), especially crank shafts. The bores can be inserted at different positions and/or in different orientations in relation to a longitudinal axis (42) of the work pieces. The inventive device has a deep drilling unit (3, 74) and a holding unit (40) that co-operates therewith and holds the work pieces. The deep drilling unit (3, 74) allows for parallel displacements of the deep drilling tools in a horizontal X-direction and a vertical Y-direction as well as work piece feed parallel in relation to the axis (30) of the spindle. The holding device (40) for the tools accommodates one or more crank shafts (41) in such a way that the longitudinal axis (42) thereof is directed horizontally and allows for a rotation around the longitudinal axis (42) as well as a pivoting movement of the work pieces (41) around a vertical rotational axis (49). Different angles of inclination of the bores in relation to the longitudinal axis (42) of the work piece and different positions of the bores in relation to the circumference of the work pieces (41) can thus be introduced.

    • The invention relates to a machine for drilling oil holes in crankshafts and to a corresponding method. Said machine can drill one, two or more crankshafts per cycle. Each crankshaft can rotate around its own axis. The assembly described in the invention is mounted on a revolving plate with a horizontal work top and a vertical rotational axis to place the crankshafts at different angles relative to the Z axis of the machining module while preserving the horizontality of the longitudinal axes of the crankshafts. The machining module is located facing the assembly and is fitted with two horizontal axis spindles, a drilling tool holder and the corresponding drill bit guides that are placed parallel to one another, are mounted one on top of the other and at the same distance as the two crankshafts. The module moves along three coordinates: an X (horizontal-transversal) axis, a Y (vertical ) axis and Z (horizontal-drill bit advance feed) axis. A fourth W axis (with an additional carriage and independent actuation) moves parallel to the Z axis and serves as a support for the drill bit guide bushings. The machine is fitted with an automatic changer (of the drill bit and guide bushing or the guide bushing only) and encompasses simultaneously the pair of tool holder spindles.
