SOLUTION: A carousel 10 which is removable from a carrier part comprises an upper part 20 and a sample positioning part 18 connected to the upper part. At the limb of the sample positioning part 18, a plurality of vial positions 12 are provided. In order to stack a plurality of carousels 10, a bottom ridge of the sample positioning part 18 is formed to engage with an upper part 20 of another carousel.

摘要： Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods and devices for minimizing band spreading of compositions separated by chromatographic processes. One embodiment of the present invention features a device (11) for holding a separation column or cartridge. The device (11) includes a housing (15) having a chamber for receiving one or more columns or cartridges. The columns and cartridges have an inlet for receiving fluid and an outlet for discharging fluid and a column axis corresponding generally with the flow of fluid from the inlet to the outlet. The columns and cartridges are suitable for performing separations in which a constant temperature is desirable. The housing (15) further includes a heating element for maintaining said chamber at a constant temperature. The device (11) further includes positioning means (17) for placing the column and cartridge outlet in proximity to a detector.

摘要： A sample handling mechanism including a direct drive carrier for positioning multiple trays or carousels of sample vials and a direct drive carousel handling mechanism that eliminates pulleys and belts and the problems associated therewith. The carousels handled by the sample handling mechanism are individually identifiable, stackable and include a viewing area for identifying and viewing the individual sample vials grouped in a respective carousel. The sample handling mechanism consists of two logical drive modules. A single center line or axis of rotation is effected in each of the drive modules. The two logical drive modules include a carrier mechanism that transports a plurality of sample carousels to a sampling station, and a carousel drive mechanism which engages a single carousel and presents the appropriate vial to be sampled. The carrier mechanism includes a multi-position spoke-like carrier portion that is driven by a single drive shaft coupled to a gear reduction stepper motor by a coupling. The carousel drive mechanism includes a linear actuator portion and a rotary actuator portion on a common center line or axis. The linear actuator portion effects engagement and disengagement of the rotary actuator portion with a properly positioned carousel, and includes a linear actuator stepper motor with a motor shaft attached to a lift housing. The lift housing holds the rotary actuator portion.

摘要： One embodiment of the present coupler (11) comprises two or more conduits (13) for transporting fluid. Each of the two or more conduits (13) has at least one end (15) defining an opening in said conduit, and each of the conduits (13) has an axis running parallel to the flow of fluid through said conduit (13). The coupler (11) further comprises a housing body (21) having a first housing planar surface (23). The housing body (21) holds two or more conduits (13) in alignment wherein the axis of each conduit (13) is substantially parallel, at least one end (15) of each conduit (13) is aligned about said first housing planar surface (23). And the coupler (11) has a cap (31) element having a cap planar surface (33). The cap planar surface (33) is fixed to the first housing planar surface (23) in sealed engagement. At least one of the first housing planar surface (23) and the cap planar surface (33) has a channel (35) in fluid communication with the opening in the conduits (23). The channel (35) allows two or more fluid streams, each fluid stream being defined by one of said conduit (13), to be placed in communication.
