    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of braking a vehicle, particularly a vehicle with a short wheel base and the high center of gravity, eliminating the danger of overturning and attaining uniform braking at a desirable cost. SOLUTION: This method of braking a vehicle with a front axle 5 and a rear axle 7 is proposed to avoid an unstable travel state in the case of braking such a vehicle. The rear axle load of the vehicle is detected, and in the case of the rear axle load being lower than the specified threshold limit value, vehicle deceleration at the time of braking is limited to maximum deceleration by automatic partial air bleeding of a front axle brake. Such limitation is advantageously performed by an anti-locking system 8, and the anti-locking system 8 detects each vehicle deceleration and limits vehicle deceleration by the suitable control of attached ABS control valves 9, 10. The method can be applied particularly advantageously to a vehicle with a short wheel base and the high center of gravity such as a tractor driven without a trailer.
