    • A hand-held test meter for use with an analytical test strip in the determination of an analyte in a bodily fluid sample includes a housing; a microcontroller block disposed in the housing; and a phase-shift-based hematocrit measurement block. The phase-shift-based hematocrit measurement block includes a signal generation sub-block, a low pass filter sub-block, an analytical test strip sample cell interface sub-block, a transimpedance amplifier sub-block, and a phase detector sub-block. In addition, the phase-shift-based hematocrit measurement block and microcontroller block are configured to measure the phase shift of a bodily fluid sample in a sample cell of an analytical test strip inserted in the hand-held test meter and the microcontroller block is configured to compute the hematocrit of the bodily fluid sample based on the measured phase shift.

    • A method and a system are provided to determine fill sufficiency of an electrochemical biosensor test cell by determining capacitance of the electrochemical test cell. In particular, the system samples an output signal from the chamber at a second sampling-time interval different than a first sampling-time interval such that a magnitude of each sampled output signal is measured at each succession of the second sampling-time interval instead of at the first time interval. The system determines a phase angle between an output signal and the oscillating input signal from the chamber based on the sampled output signal of the sampling step. The system calculates a capacitance of the chamber from the phase angle. A method is also provided to perform similar functionalities of the system.

    • A stand alone battery monitoring system coupled to a battery product having a positive pole and a negative pole having a housing, a battery monitoring electronics package contained within the housing, the electronics package having a controller with at least one of an at least one CPU, EEPROM(s), ADC(s), PWM(s), Digital Input(s), and Digital Output(s) and including a portion of memory for storage of data and software. A sensor is coupled to and communicates with the battery product and the controller, measuring at least a battery product voltage and a battery product temperature. Multiple code segments form software on the controller, the battery monitor software includes: an at least one code segment acquiring battery product data for at least a the battery product voltage and the battery product internal temperature from the at least one sensor, an at least one code segment filtering the acquired battery product data into modified battery product data and processing the modified battery product data against stored parameters; an at least one code segment storing the acquired, filtered, modified and compared battery product data in the portion of memory and retaining whole or in part the acquired, filtered, modified and compared battery product data to provide historical battery product data over the course of the life of the battery; an at least one code segment comparing the stored battery product data against threshold levels; and an at least one indicator on a wireless device, wherein if the at least one code segment comparing the stored battery product data against threshold levels determines that data is beyond those levels, it sends an alert wirelessly to a user via the wireless device and the at least one indicator element thereon.

    • The instant invention is directed to a multiple battery system and network controlled multiple battery system. A main battery having a main positive output and a main negative output is also provided, together with an at least one auxiliary battery having an at least one auxiliary positive output and an at least one auxiliary negative output. A main electrical circuit having an at least one switching device is provided with at least two operating positions. The two operating positions selectively couple the main and at least one auxiliary battery to the common positive terminal. In the first of the at least two operating positions electrical charge is provided to both the main battery and the at least one auxiliary battery. A controller is also provided and coupled to the main electrical circuit and switches the at least one switching device based on input from an at least one sensor.
