摘要： There is provided a liquid crystal composition in particular with a low threshold voltage and a wide range of nematic phase temperature (with high TNI point and low TC), while satisfying various properties required for liquid crystal compositions for active matrix type liquid crystal display elements. The composition contains, for example, compounds represented by general formulas (1-1) and (2-1): ##STR1## where each R.sub.1 independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; X.sub.1 represents H or F; and each X.sub.2 independently represents F, OCF.sub.3, CF.sub.3, or OCF.sub.2 H.

摘要： Liquid crystalline compounds superior in having an eminent dielectric anisotropy, being stable against environment and having improved miscibility with other liquid crystalline compounds, as well as a liquid crystal composition with driving-ability at a low voltage and responsibility at a high-speed comprising the compounds as a constituting component, and a liquid crystal display element comprising the composition are provided, said compounds are fluoroalkoxybenzene derivatives expressed by the general formula (1) wherein A1, A2 and A3 each independently denote trans-1,4-cyclohexylene,1,4-phenylene or so; B, B2 and B3 each independently denote a single bond, 1,2-ethylene or so; R denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms optionally substitutable with a halogen atom(s); Rf denotes a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon; k, m, and n each independently denote 0 or 1; with the proviso that when k=0 is a case, then one of B1, B2 and B3 is a methyleneoxy bond or so, and that when m+n≧1 is a case, then dependency of A1, A2 and A3 is partly restricted and content of Rf is partly limited when B1 or/and B2 and B3 are all single bonds.

摘要： The present invention provides liquid crystalline compounds having a high voltage holding ratio and a remarkably high &Dgr;&egr; value, electric and chemical stability, and having good compatibility with known liquid crystalline compounds, liquid crystal compositions containing the compound, and liquid crystal display devices constituted by using the compounds. The liquid crystalline compounds of the present invention are particular dioxane derivatives represented by general formula (1). 摘要： There is provided an electrically and chemically stable liquid crystalline compound which exhibits a significantly large value of De and a high voltage holding ratio. The compound is a phenyldioxane derivative represented by formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R represents a C1-C20 alkyl group; each of n1 and n2 represents 0 or 1; each of Q.sub.1 through Q.sub.6 represents a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, or a chlorine atom, provided that Q.sub.3 is a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom when n2 is 0, and that at least one of Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.3 is a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom when n2 is 1; each of Za and Zb represents a single bond, --COO--, or --CF.sub.2 O--; Zc represents a single bond or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --; Y represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or a C1-C5 halogenated alkyl group in which one or more non-adjacent methylene groups may be replaced by oxygen atoms or sulfur atoms; and each of the elements that constitute the compound may comprise isotopes of the element. The compound also exhibits excellent compatibility with previously known liquid crystalline compounds, and is advantageously used for low voltage driving of liquid crystal displays for TFTs. There are also provided liquid crystal compositions comprising the compound, as well as liquid crystal display elements constructed of the compositions.
