    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine properly suppressing the generation of vapor inside a high-pressure fuel piping system after an engine stop to keep engine startability high.
      SOLUTION: This fuel supply device accumulates fuel pressurized by an engine-driven high-pressure fuel pump into the high-pressure fuel piping system, and supplies the accumulated fuel to the internal combustion engine through a fuel injection valve connected to the piping system. The piping system is provided with an accumulator. An effective volume of the accumulator is set to a volume V1 corresponding to an amount W calculated by adding a fuel contraction amount Wa in a decrease period to a minimum temperature Tmin which a fuel temperature inside the piping system can reach after the engine stop from a maximum temperature Tmax which the fuel temperature can reach in an engine operation and a total amount Wb of a fuel amount leaked from the piping system after the engine stop. A valve-opening pressure of the accumulator is set to prescribed pressure P2 slightly higher than the saturated vapor pressure of the fuel in the maximum temperature Tmax.

Under this constitution, one of the two high pressure fuel pumps 13 is made the high pressure fuel pump 13A with small lift amount of a plunger 21, and the other is made the high pressure fuel pump 13B with large lift amount of the plunger 21.
