    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which efficiently uses cellulose based biomass in a method of producing ethanol including a process which saccharifies cellulose based biomass using cellulase.SOLUTION: A recombinant yeast in which a β-glucosidase gene, a xylose reductase gene as a xylose metabolism related gene, and a β-xylosidase gene are introduced into the genome is disclosed, wherein the β-xylosidase gene is introduced in the form in which the expression control is carried out by the expression control region of a xylitol dehydrogenase gene, xylulokinase gene, and a hyperosmolarity response 7 (HOR7) gene. In addition, the method of producing ethanol includes a process which cultivates the recombinant yeast in a cellulose and/or hemicellulose containing medium including a cellulase formulation, and process which collects ethanol from the cellulose and/or hemicellulose containing medium.
