    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for a gear tooth profile of a gear capable of efficiently providing the gear tooth profile developing a specified engaging performance and the gear enabling a reduction in weight while suppressing the lowering of the engaging performance.
      SOLUTION: This design method for the gear tooth profile of the helical gear 10 comprises a step for determining a plurality of simultaneous contact lines 121a to 121d on a tooth face 21 and determining the tooth profiles along the simultaneous contact lines 121a to 121d, a step for setting, on the tooth face 21, engagement advancing lines 122 formed by connecting the highest positions of the simultaneous contact lines 121a to 121d to each other, and a step for determining the tooth profiles along the engagement advancing lines 122.
