The deterioration suppression part comprises a passage wall 16 for holding the deterioration suppressing agent and forming an oil passage. The deterioration suppressing agent includes a mesoporous inorganic material.

The surface coating is formed of TiC and columnar fine particles whose grain sizes are 1-90 nm are distributed over the outermost surface. Amorphous carbon may be included in the surface coating. The surface coating, which does not substantially include the amorphous carbon and is formed of column particles in which grain growth occurs from the outermost surface of the base material to the outermost surface of the surface coating, shows extremely high wear resistance. Such a surface coating formed of the TiC is, e.g., obtained by plasma CVD. One example of the coated member is a molding die.

The sliding layer is an amorphous layer comprising an amorphous form. The sliding layer may be a crystalline layer comprising a crystalline excluding diamond. It is considered that characteristics at the inside of a solid that bears an energy dissipation mechanism changes as compared with conventional ones by an increase of isotopes having a large mass number, and thereby the coefficient of friction of the sliding layer is decreased. The sliding layer preferably includes, for example, 50 at.% or more of the heavy isotope in total with respect to the entire of isotopes of the same name element.

It is considered that the friction coefficient of the surface coating film is decreased because the characteristic inside the solid which assumes the energy dissipating mechanism is changed by an increase in isotopes of a greater mass number than before. This surface coating film preferably comprises, for example, a diamond containing not less than 50% of the total ofC andC to 100 mass% of the total isotopes.
