    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED light-emitting device capable of easily controlling the outer appearance color of a phosphor layer when light is turned off. SOLUTION: The phosphor layer 13 of the LED light-emitting device 1 has a structure in which a yellow phosphor layer 13a, a red phosphor layer 13b and a blue phosphor layer 13c are sequentially laminated from the side near an LED 10. The thickness and the phosphor concentration of the blue phosphor layer 13c are each set at a value at which when the yellow phosphor layer 13a and the red phosphor layer 13b are excited by an outside light and emit a yellow light and a red light, respectively, the yellow light and the red light do not pass through the blue phosphor layer 43b. As the result, the outer appearance color of the phosphor layer 13 when the LED light-emitting device 1 is lighted off is white as the outer appearance color of the blue phosphor layer 13c. Since the LED light-emitting device 1 emits a white color light and this color matches the outer appearance color of the phosphor layer 13 when light is turned off, the outer appearance quality is high.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a phosphor powder having a small grain diameter and a small grain diameter distribution.SOLUTION: One embodiment of a method of producing a phosphor powder includes: a process of adding a carbon material to a phosphor material to form a precursor; and a process of burning the precursor to obtain the phosphor powder. When the phosphor powder is a nitride phosphor powder, a difference between D90 representing a grain diameter for 90% undersize accumulation in terms of volume and D10 representing a grain diameter for 10% undersize accumulation in terms of volume is ≤41 μm. When the phosphor powder is an oxide phosphor powder, a difference between D90 and D10 is ≤50 μm.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate uneven coloring and improve light extraction efficiency.
      SOLUTION: A side wall surface of a light emitting layer 6a is sealed with a primary sealing material 8 formed of light transmitting epoxy. The upper surface of this primary sealing member 8 is coupled almost continuously with the upper surface of a light emitting diode 6. A secondary sealing material 9 formed of light transmitting epoxy is injected after hardening of the primary sealing material 8 and a deposition layer 10 is formed very thin with higher density by forcible sedimentation (deposition by sedimentation) of phosphor particle mixed in the epoxy agent forming the secondary sealing material 9 during injection of the primary sealing member. Thickness of this deposition layer 10 is about 10 μm at each thickest part of the center of the upper surface of the light emitting diode 6 and the bottom part of the upper surface of the primary sealing material 8. Moreover, as the phosphor particle, Ce:YAG particle having the diameter of about 2 μm to 8 μm is used. This phosphor absorbs the blue-color light emitted from the light emitting diode 6 and emits the yellow-color light after conversion.
