    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a biaxially oriented polyester film which retains practical characteristics without losing heat resistance, aroma retention, water resistance, etc., is excellent in film handleability and appearance, suffers no wrinkles of the film, stretching of the film or change in pitch at printing or lamination and can be easily torn and handled so as to be suitably applied to stick packages, cover materials, etc.
      SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film is 5-9 μm thick and comprises a mixture of a crystalline polyester resin (A) containing ≥90 mol% terephthalic acid as an acid component and ≥90 mol% ethylene glycol as a glycol component and a block-copolymerized polyester (B) comprising a low-melting-point soft polymer, provided that the block-copolymerized polyester (B) contained in the film comprises 1-4 wt.% low-melting-point soft polymer and that the film has a haze value of ≤7%. The difference between the refractive index Nx in the longitudinal direction and the refractive index Ny in the width direction, i.e. (Nx-Ny) or (Ny-Nx), is 0.02-0.06, and the thermal shrinkage rates both in the longitudinal and width direction at 150°C are ≤5%.
