SOLUTION: The structure comprises a weir 2 provided around the fuel storage pool 1 in the nuclear power station, a fuel exchange floor 3 provided at a lower arrangement than the weir around the weir, a projected plate 4 fixed along the surface of the weir and the fuel exchange floor and a fence 5 fixed at the top of the weir of the projected plate. To the fence 5, an overspill water suppression member 12, which consists of a sheet or a panel for suppressing overspilling outside the pool when the pool water level rises due to sloshing, is provided.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the water stored in a spent fuel pool from flowing down below an operation floor.
      SOLUTION: A reactor building includes a bank 4 surrounding the spent fuel pool 1 on the operation floor 12 communicating with an opening of the pool 1 where spent fuel is stored in the water. The bank 4 may also surround an upper opening 24 of a reactor, an equipment pool 7 and a rail pit 3 where a refueling machine runs. Moreover, the following measures may be taken: the formation of drain ditches 11 in the bank 4 to connect the inside and outside of it, the erection of a hand rail 8 with plates in the upper part of the bank 4 in such a way that the hand rail 8 extends along the bank 4 and the placement of a discharge channel 6 connecting the spent fuel pool 1 and the rail pit 3, a switching means with a water-tight structure for openings 9 of the operation floor 12 outside the bank 4 and walls surrounding the operation floor 12 and a sealing means for floor drainage pipes 10 laid on the operation floor 12.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the earthquake response of a reactor core and an inter-dry well piping system by varying the rigidity of a stabilizer according to the vibration analytic result of detected earthquake motion as to the earthquake- resistance structure of the nuclear reactor container. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic actuator 14 which has a hydraulic piston and a cylinder are installed at the fitting part on the side of the nuclear reactor container 2 and a rod 16 which is connected to the piston is fixed to the upper end of a nuclear reactor shield wall 8. The actuator 14 sends the electric signal from a process computer installed in a nuclear reactor building 1 to a hydraulic pressure source to control its rigidity. A response monitor detects earthquake motion, feeds it back at need, and controls the rigidity of the stabilizer 10. Consequently, the nuclear reactor pressure body main body and in-pile structure are reduced in earthquake response to improve the safety of the nuclear reactor.
