    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head which can reduce a leakage magnetic field from a side shield while maintaining a recording capacity in on-track, and can obtain high track density, and to provide a disk device equipped with the magnetic head.
      SOLUTION: The magnetic head of the disk device includes a slider and a head that performs information processing on a recording medium provided at the slider, and the head has a main magnetic pole 66 that applies a perpendicular recording magnetic field to a recording layer, a recording coil that excites the main magnetic pole, a light shielding magnetic pole that is opposed to a trailing side of the main magnetic pole with a light gap and that forms a closed magnetic path with an underlayer of the recording medium 12, side shields 70 that are provided at both sides of a track width direction of the main magnetic pole so as to be magnetically apart from the main magnetic pole, and low magnetic flux density layers 76a and 76b that are formed of materials having smaller saturation magnetic flux density than the saturation magnetic flux density of the main magnetic pole, and control flows of magnetic flux from the main magnetic pole to the side shields by arranging the main magnetic pole and the side shields in confronted positions.

The end face is formed so that the gap with the main magnetic pole is larger at a part farther than a part which is closer to the recording medium.
