    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and control method of rain water pump, which does not cause a hunting in a pump control. SOLUTION: The device and method controls: a plurality of sets of pumps 301a, 301b including variable speed pumps; an engine 302 for driving the pumps, provided in a pump station for performing drainage into a drainage ditch according to rainfalls and sewer inflow quantities of a predetermined basin; and a floodgate provided in a drainage route to the drainage ditch from the pump station. The device and method measures internal water levels and external water levels of the pump station, measures inflow quantities to the pump station, measures rainfall of the area, determines a weather mode using respective measure values of water levels, flow rates and rainfalls, predicts inflow quantities to the pump station, based on measured values of flow rates and rainfalls, makes correction of preset starting/stoppage water levels of pumps, determines the number of pumps to be operated depending on the measured values of inflow quantities and predicted values of inflow quantities, controls a speed of variable speed pumps, and conducts opening/closing control of a floodgate 303 according to correction values of starting/stoppage water levels.
