    • The present invention provides a bifocal camera capable of changing focal length of a photographic lens system and having lens drive means operable by a motor to switch the photographic lens system between a first focal length state wherein a main lens component is located at a rear position and a second focal length state wherein the main lens component is located at a front position and an auxiliary lens component is located at an operative position. This camera comprises a device for automatically stopping the motor when shifting of the main lens component is interrupted by force, and a device for restricting the shifting of the main lens component between the front position and the rear position. The auxiliary lens component is moved and a lens barrier is opened and closed in interlocked relationship with the shifting of the main lens component.

    • A synchronization detection circuit includes: a matched filter 105 for outputting a correlation value, between a spreading code and data that is obtained by sampling a code spread signal 101, using a sampling clock for one chip cycle; a sampling clock generator 102 for generating the sampling clock, so that, for each cycle of a code spreading signal, a phase delay for the basic clock of one chip cycle is increased by a value obtained by dividing one chip cycle by an integer; and a synchronization determination unit 107 for determining the timing whereat the maximum correlation value is attained and for performing synchronization detection.

    • A film transporting device for use in a camera disclosed is so designed as to rewind the film such that no film portion is engaged in film take-up sprocket, resulting in an easy take out of the used film. The device in one form includes a counter that counts up the number of frames during a wind-up operation is carried out after the positioning of a film leader in contact with the take-up sprocket, and during a rewind operation, the counter counts down the same number of frames, or more, to locate the film leader in a disengaged position from the sprocket. The device in another form includes a film perforation detector. In this form, the film rewind operation is carried out until the perforation detector stops detecting the perforation. In a further form, the device includes a mechanical counter which counts up the frames used during wind-up operation, and during rewind operation counts down more than the number counted up to ensure that the film leader portion is withdrawn from the take-up sprocket.
