    • In order to allow efficient use of bandwidth in communication paths in a surveillance system, the surveillance system has an operation unit which assigns fixed bandwidths to each of the communications taking place between camera nodes, which transfer image data at a uniform rate, and monitor nodes. A fixed bandwidth is assigned to, all communications taking place between the operation unit and sensor nodes, which generate alarm information at a non-uniform rate. If there is an increase in network traffic, bandwidth allocations, for communication between the camera nodes and the monitor nodes are reassigned so that bandwidth for these communications is reduced. The camera nodes use the bandwidth assigned to the camera nodes to transfer image data. The sensor nodes transfer alarm information using any bandwidth.

    • Disclosed is an air cleaner for use in an internal combustion engine. The air cleaner has an air filter element and a secondary air filter element therein. Secondary air is fed into the exhaust system of the engine from the air cleaner via the secondary air filter element and a reed valve for promoting the oxidation of unburned HC and CO components in the exhaust gas. A partition is disposed on the circumferential wall of the casing of the air cleaner and is arranged so as to extend along approximately half of the circumferential wall. A secondary air passage is formed between the partition and the circumferential wall. The secondary air filter element and the secondary air inlet are disposed in one end of the secondary air passage. The other end of the secondary air passage opens into the atmosphere. A plurality of holes are formed on the partition and are equiangularly arranged along the circumferential wall.

    • A superconducting magnetism measuring apparatus is provided which is capable of favorably measuring a faint degree of magnetism generated in the cervical or waist part of a subject to be measured with no need of the neck or waist of the subject being bent forward. Its sensor cylinder (10) is arranged of a four-sided cylindrical shape having a width along the y direction of not smaller than 5 cm and not greater than 20 cm and a width along the x direction of not smaller than 5 cm and not greater than 20 cm. One side at the distal end (10c) of the sensor cylinder (10) is moderately curved to project at the center not smaller than 0.5 cm and not greater than 4 cm from both the upper and lower ends along the y direction. This allows the side at the distal end of the sensor cylinder (10) to come into direct contact with the cervical or waist part of the subject when the neck or waist remains not belt forward, whereby a faint magnetism generated in the spinal cords or nerves of the subject can favorably be measured.
