    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the treatment apparatus and the treatment method of shellfish enhancing treatment stability and treatment capacity in aerobic treatment, and keeping shells after treatment in a cleaner state. SOLUTION: This treatment apparatus of shellfish treats shellfish applying anaerobic treatment and aerobic treatment to shellfish, and has a treatment tank 10 and an agitation part. The treatment tank 10 has structure capable of shutting off atmospheric air, contains a treating liquid 12 containing anaerobic seed sludge and dipping the treating object shellfish 11 therein. The treating liquid is sequentially subjected to anaerobic treatment by anaerobic microorganisms in an anaerobic condition, and aerobic treatment by aerobic microorganisms using shells of the shellfish 11 in aerobic condition as carriers of the aerobic microorganisms. The first treatment tank is composed to contain third treating liquid formed by dipping shells in the supernatant part of the second treating liquid and applying aerobic treatment to the third treating liquid in an aerobic condition by aerobic microorganisms using shells as carriers of the aerobic microorganisms.
