    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the treatment apparatus and the treatment method of shellfish enhancing treatment stability and treatment capacity in aerobic treatment, and keeping shells after treatment in a cleaner state. SOLUTION: This treatment apparatus of shellfish treats shellfish applying anaerobic treatment and aerobic treatment to shellfish, and has a treatment tank 10 and an agitation part. The treatment tank 10 has structure capable of shutting off atmospheric air, contains a treating liquid 12 containing anaerobic seed sludge and dipping the treating object shellfish 11 therein. The treating liquid is sequentially subjected to anaerobic treatment by anaerobic microorganisms in an anaerobic condition, and aerobic treatment by aerobic microorganisms using shells of the shellfish 11 in aerobic condition as carriers of the aerobic microorganisms. SOLUTION: This treatment apparatus of shellfish is provided with: a first treatment tank T1 capable of shutting off the atmospheric air, containing first treating liquid 12 dipping shellfish 11 to be treated therein, having first agitation parts (15, 16) agitating the first treating liquid and solubilizing organic solid matter composing shellfish in an anaerobic condition; and a second treatment tank T2 containing second treating liquid 31 formed by adding anaerobic sludge to the first treating liquid except shells of shellfish transferred from the first treatment tank while the atmospheric air is shut off, having a second agitation part 32 agitating the second treating liquid, and applying anaerobic treatment to the second treating liquid in an anaerobic condition by anaerobic microorganisms. The first treatment tank is composed to contain third treating liquid formed by dipping shells in the supernatant part of the second treating liquid and applying aerobic treatment to the third treating liquid in an aerobic condition by aerobic microorganisms using shells as carriers of the aerobic microorganisms.
