    • A rotary electronic device such as a rotary encoder is provided which includes a rotor, a push/turn operating shaft, and a rotary sliding member. The rotor provides electric signals in response to rotation of the push/turn operating shaft and has formed therein a through hole consisting of a circular hole and a cross-shaped hole. The push/turn operating shaft includes a small diameter end portion and a cross-shaped portion engaging the cross-shaped hole of the rotor for rotating the rotor according to the rotation of the push/turn operating shaft. The rotary sliding member is connected to the small diameter end portion of the push/turn operating shaft in engagement with tapered end surfaces of the cross-shaped portion of the push/turn operating shaft within the cross-shaped hole of the rotor and slides onto tapered end surfaces formed on an inner wall of the rotor between the circular hole and the cross-shape hole to hold the push/turn operating shaft in push-in position when the push/turn operating shaft is pushed into the rotor to move the rotary sliding member out of the cross-shaped hole of the rotor.

    • Operating rod 21 is provided with a spherical portion 21B that has a polygon shape in the horizontal cross section, which is engaged with a polygonal opening 23C provided above a central opening 23A of a revolving member 23 so that the two items make a same revolution together, yet the operating rod 21 can make a free up-down movement independently. The operating rod 21 has a pushing portion 21D at the lower end; upper surface of which pushing portion 21D is keeping an elastic contact to a middle ring-platform 23B of the revolving member 23 via a washer 4. So, even when the operating rod 21 is positioned slightly aslant, it can perform both revolving and up-down actions smoothly. In an electronic appliance incorporating the revolving operation electronic component of the above structure, the clearance margin to be provided in relation to an operating knob and an aperture for the knob can be made small. Thus the electronic component in accordance with the present invention contributes to offer electronic appliances of high quality-grade with which a smooth feeling of operation is assured.

    • A rotary encoder includes a case made of insulating resin, a rotatable operation shaft, a slidable brush fixed to the operation shaft, and a signal contact embedded in a surface of the case. The slidable brush has a contacting section slidable on a surface of the case on a predetermined circumference according to a rotation of the operation shaft. The signal contact has an upper surface flush with the surface of the case, a first side surface connected to the upper surface at a first corner having a right angle, a second side surface connected to the upper surface at a second corner having a right angle, and a lower surface opposite to the upper surface. The first and side surfaces are positioned on the predetermined circumference. The lower surface has a width smaller than a width of the upper surface. This rotary encoder has a small size and outputs a signal precisely.

    • A rotationally-operated input device includes the following elements: (a) a magnetized cylindrical rotary magnet; (b) an operating shaft having the rotary magnet inserted and held thereon; (c) an upper case and a lower case for sandwiching the operating shaft therebetween rotatably; (d) an insulating substrate for fixing and holding the lower case; (e) a detection element mounted on the insulating substrate, for detecting rotation of the rotary magnet in a non-contact manner; and (f) a fixed magnet for generating an attractive and repulsive force between the fixed magnet and the rotary magnet. This structure allows detection of a rotation state of the operating shaft and provides click-feeling at rotating operation, in a non-contact manner. Thus a long-life small rotationally-operated input device can be provided.
