    • To provide a layout structure of a clutch lever shaft capable of realizing compact layouts of a whole power unit in which a starter centrifugal clutch and a transmission manual multi-plate clutch are provided, and of a whole vehicle on which the power unit is mounted. A centrifugal clutch shaft and a manual multi-plate clutch shaft are disposed in parallel. The clutch lever shaft of the manual multi-plate clutch is disposed orthogonally and substantially vertically upward in relation to a pressing direction of a friction plate in a vicinity of an end portion of a lifter pin. The clutch lever shaft is disposed between the centrifugal clutch and the manual multi-plate clutch when viewed from a top of the power unit.

    • A crankcase with a ceiling portion for shutting off the upper side of an oil pool chamber. An oil flowing window is opened in the ceiling portion of a right case. An oil strainer is formed in a flat plate like shape. The oil strainer is fitted to the oil flowing window. The right case is provided with an oil passage through which the oil having passed through the oil strainer flows roughly horizontally to an oil pump suction port. The ceiling portion of the right case is provided with a cutout portion by not casting a portion of the case at a position where the ceiling portion of the right case and an oil pump are adjacent to each other, and a plug is fitted in the cutout portion. The vertical size from the oil pool to the oil pump suction port can be reduced as much as possible, and the overall height of the internal combustion engine can be restricted.

    • A method comprising interpenetrating a hollow casing into a relatively loose sand layer saturated with ground water, thereafter raising the casing while tamping crushed stones charged into the casing by a compaction rod disposed within the casing, and driving gravel drain piles while continuously performing the raising of the casing and the tamping of the crushed stones. After the casing has reached the predetermined depth and the charging of crushed stones has been confirmed an, amplitude of reaction is detected by a reaction detection device provided on the compaction rod or a load current measuring device of the compaction rod. The reaction value is compared with a set reaction value, and one or more factors (a raising speed of the casing, a period, an amplitude and an extreme end surface-height of the compaction rod for determining a compacting degree of a peripheral ground) are controlled in response to the compared value.

    • A lubrication structure is provided for supplying lubricating oil to a transmission of an engine. The engine includes a mission holder which includes a power transmission mechanism between a main shaft and a countershaft as a unit and is removably mounted in a mission chamber, and a clutch chamber having a clutch mechanism is provided adjacent the mission chamber for transmitting rotation of a crankshaft to the transmission. Two oil introduction ports are provided on the mission holder, which is between the clutch chamber and the mission chamber. The two oil introduction ports enable the two chambers to communicate with each other. Each of the oil introduction ports has an opening provided therein which opens upwardly on a clutch chamber side of the mission holder.
