摘要： A rear wheel steering apparatus for a vehicle, comprises a hydraulic cylinder for displacing a steering rod connected to left and right rear wheels axially, a centering spring for biasing the steering rod toward a neutral position, and a centering spring cancelling mechanism for preventing a biasing force of the centering spring from acting on the steering rod. A partition wall of the hydraulic cylinder defines an oil chamber in the cylinder and is formed as a cup shape having a central concave portion which constitutes a pressure chamber of the centering spring cancelling mechanism.

摘要： A device for steering the rear wheels of a vehicle has a first motor controlled at least with respect to the steering angle of the steering wheel, a gear change mechanism for changing gear ratios, a second motor for controlling the gear ratio by driving the gear change mechanism, a steering mechanism for steering the rear wheels by transmitting a portion of the force equal to the product of the amount that the first motor is driven and the amount that the second motor is driven, a motor failure determination device for detecting motor failure when the amount that either of the first or second motors is driven is zero and the other of the motors is operated, and a control device for controlling both motors so that when motor failure is detected in one of the motors, the amount that the other motor is driven is brought to zero. The steering device may further have a sensor for detecting the steering angle of the rear wheels, and a sensor failure detecting device which monitors the steering angle detected by the sensor, and detects a failure of the sensor when the steering angle of the rear wheel changes although the amount that one of the motors is driven is zero. Also disclosed is a process for steering the rear wheels of a vehicle.

摘要： A vehicle control system includes an active suspension mechanism for providing a rolling property of a vehicle in a cornering operation of the vehicle and a suspension control device for controlling the vehicle in accordance with the rolling property provided by the active suspension mechanism and changing from one rolling property to another. A rear wheel steering mechanism steers a rear wheel in connection with steering of a front wheel, and a steering control device controls the steering of the rear wheel in accordance with a predetermined steering property and changes the steering property for the rear wheel. One of the steering property and the rolling property is changed in synchronism with a change in the other of the steering property and the rolling property. When a reverse phase property is provided for the rear wheel as a steering property and a reverse rolling property is provided for the active suspension system, the visibility of the cornering direction and the operability are improved to accomplish an active operation property. Alternatively when a same phase property is provided for the rear wheel as a steering property, the running stability can be improved.
