    • A slide rail structure of a vehicle for sliding a seat relative to a vehicle floor can include a rail member having an upper opening portion, a slide member, and cover members disposed on the rail member. The rail member can also include lateral portions, upper portions and downward extending portions. Each of the cover members can include a fixed portion and a cover portion. The fixed portion further can include an attaching portion attached to the rail member, and a protruding portion that protrudes into the upper opening portion. The cover portion can be positioned upward of and spaced apart from the protruding portion, so as to normally cover the upper opening portion of the rail member without contacting the protruding portion. The cover portion can also contact the protruding portion so as to be restricted from being deformed downward when the cover portion is moved downward.

    • A garnish has an upper mounting projection concealed by a corner pad and a lower mounting projection concealed by a lower end of a vertical sash portion. The upper mounting projection is mounted in an upper mounting hole of the vertical sash portion. The lower mounting projection is mounted in a lower mounting hole of an outer panel. The upper mounting hole is concealed by the corner pad, and the lower mounting hole is concealed by the lower end of the vertical sash portion. This ensures a high quality appearance of the garnish without employing additional materials or components. Also, the garnish is mounted in a front door without reducing the surface area of the corresponding window of the vehicle.

    • A height sensor comprises a pair of light-emitting elements disposed at positions spaced at different distances from a surface desired to be measured, the elements alternately emitting light rays, and a light-receiving element for receiving a light ray generated from each light-emitting element and reflected by the measured surface, the element producing a signal corresponding to the quantity of light received. The signal outputted from the light-receiving element is logarithmically converted by a logarithmic converter circuit. The output thereof thus has its direct current components removed by a filter. The value, covering from one peak to another peak, of the remaining alternating current components is equal to the value obtained by subtracting a logarithmically converted value of the signal outputted from the light-receiving element when causing one light-emitting element to give forth a light ray, from a logarithmically converted value of the signal outputted from the light-receiving element when causing the other light-emitting element to give forth a light ray. By rectifying this filter output, it is possible to detect the height up to the measured surface without being influenced by dirt on the measured surface upon the output of the light-receiving element.
