    • A block expanding section and a plurality of pixel processing sections are formed in the same semiconductor chip. The block expanding section handles an area to be drawn in units of blocks each composed of an appropriate number of pixels and performs expansion calculation of information of a representative value of each block. Each of the plurality of pixel processing sections has a pixel expanding section and a computing section. The pixel expanding section expands information in units of pixels at least in a rectangular area from block representative point information calculated in the block expanding section. The computing section performs computation in units of pixels information-expanded by the pixel expanding section. Each of the plurality of pixel processing sections selectively performs either graphics processing performed in cooperation with the block expanding section, or image processing performed independent of the block expanding section.

    • Embodiments of the present invention help to improve the capacity and the performance of a disk drive device. According to one embodiment, a data track pitch is set to each recording surface. The recording surfaces are divided into bands. A hard disk drive (HDD) sequentially moves a head to an adjacent data track in a band and performs a head switch at the band end in its data accessing. On a recording surface, the number of data tracks in each band is variable; and each band is constituted by different number of data tracks as necessary. The number of data tracks in each band is set so that the radial position of the band end comes close to the radial position of the corresponding band end on another recording surface. Accordingly, even if the recording surfaces have different variation rates of the data track pitch in the radial direction, increase in process time due to head switches can be suppressed.

    • Disclosed is a recording liquid including an aqueous pigment dispersion, which has high dispersion stability and high discharge properties and gives a print with superior gloss. Specifically, the aqueous pigment dispersion contains a pigment; a polymer containing cationic monomer structural units and hydrophobic monomer structural units (hydrophobic-group-containing cationic polymer); and a polymer containing anionic monomer structural units and hydrophobic monomer structural units (hydrophobic-group-containing anionic polymer), in which the ratio of the number of anionic groups in the hydrophobic-group-containing anionic polymer to the number of cationic groups in the hydrophobic-group-containing cationic polymer is 1.0 or more and 8 or less. The molar ratio of the hydrophobic monomer structural units to the anionic monomer structural units in the hydrophobic-group-containing anionic polymer is from 5/95 to 50/50 or the content of the pigment is 51 percent by weight or more based on the solids content. This aqueous pigment dispersion is produced by dispersing a pigment with a hydrophobic-group-containing cationic polymer, subsequently subjecting the dispersion to ultrafiltration/microfiltration, and adding a hydrophobic-group-containing anionic polymer thereto.

    • An apparatus of drawing graphics includes an edge coefficient calculator calculating, from vertex data on vertices of a triangle, edge coefficients of edge functions used to determine whether a pixel is present in an inside region of the triangle, and a bounding box calculator calculating a bounding box of projected images of the triangle on a projection plane based on the edge coefficients. The apparatus also includes a starting point determiner and a traverser. The starting point determiner classifies the projected images of the triangle based on a combination of the edge coefficients for respective sides of the triangle, and determines a scan starting point from a corner of the bounding box based on classification of the projected images. The traverser generates pixel data used in rasterization by scanning the bounding box from the scan starting point.
