CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas contg. excess oxygen is brought into contact with a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas obtd. by carrying at least one of Pt and Pd and at least one kind of metal selected among alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and rare earth metals on an alumina carrier contg. Li allowed to enter into solid soln. Since it is considered that a multiple sulfate formed by SO2 in exhaust gas is decomposed by lithium at a low temp. in a reducing atmosphere, the acidification of the alumina is prevented and the NOx adsorbing ability of the alkali metals, etc., is kept high. The NOx removal performance of the catalyst after a durability test can be therefore improved.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent poisoning with sulfur and to improve high temp. durability of the purification performance for NOx. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst for purification of exhaust gas is used to purify at one time CO, HC and NOx in exhaust gas in an oxygen-rich atmosphere and it consists of a porous carrier, noble metals as the catalyst carried on the porous carrier, iron oxide added as an iron powder on the carrier, and at least one kind of NOx absorbent selected from among alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and rare earth elements. The iron oxide has a much larger particle size compared to the case that iron oxide is deposited in a soln. state by impregnation. Therefore, the reaction with the porous carrier is hardly caused and the decrease in the specific surface area of the porous carrier is hardly caused.

摘要： PURPOSE:To remove with high efficiency nitrogen oxide in gas to be treated by decomposing steam permeated through an anode part to produce hydrogen ions, transferring them to a cathode part to reduce into hydrogen and reducing the nitrogen oxide therewith. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyzer is divided into two by a bottomed cylindrical solid electrolyte body 1 and nitrogen oxide-contg. gas to be treated and steam are respectively introduced into one cathode chamber 8 and the other anode chamber 9. A cathode part 2 contg. a catalyst, such as oxide of Group 5A element to reduce nitrogen oxide is provided on the surface in contact with the cathode chamber 8 of the solid electrolyte body 1 and an anode part 3 contg. an oxide catalyst for decomposing steam is provided on the surface in contact with the anode chamber 9. When DC voltage is applied to a space between the anode part 3 and the cathode part 4, steam is electrolyzed and oxidized in the anode part 3 to transfer the produced hydrogen ions to the cathode part 2 based on the voltage gradient. Here, nitrogen oxide is removed by reduction by the reducing force of hydrogen.

摘要： PURPOSE:To efficiently remove nitrogen oxide by moving the hydrogen ion generated by the electrolytic oxidation of steam to a cathode part and reducing nitrogen oxide in other gas passage by the reducing power of hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:A cathode chamber 8 and an anode chamber 9 are partitioned by a solid electrolyte member 1 having a bottomed cylindrical shape and gas to be treated containing nitrogen gas is introduced into the cathode chamber 8 and steam is introduced into the anode chamber 9. A cathode part 2 consisting of a surface layer 22 composed of a reducing catalyst and a cathode part main body 21 is placed on the surface being into contact with the cathode chamber 8 and an anode part 3 containing an oxidizing catalyst is placed on the surface being into contact with the anode chamber 9. When DC voltage is applied across both chambers 8, 9 while both chambers are heated by a heater 7, steam is electrolytically oxidized in an anode part 3 to generate a hydrogen ion. This hydrogen ion is moved to a cathode part 2 on the basis of a gradient of voltage and nitrogen oxide in other gas passage is reduced by the reducing power of hydrogen reaching the cathode part 2.
