    • PURPOSE:To obtain a wear resistant Al alloy member having excellent wear resistance and durability by forming an alloyed layer which is crystallized with CrAl7 at a specific area rate by alloying of Cr on the prescribed surface of an Al alloy base material. CONSTITUTION:The alloyed layer in which at least the intermetallic compd. CrAl7 is crystallized in the area rate within a 10-50% range into the Al alloy matrix by alloying of Cr is formed on the surface of the base material consisting of the Al alloy in the part where the wear resistance of the base material is required. The formation of the alloyed layer mentioned above is executed by a method of applying Cr powder in the form of a slurry on the surface of the desired part of the Al alloy base material and applying the Cr coating on said surface, then applying high-density energy to the Cr coating layer from above to alloy said layer. The Al alloy member which is less segregated with the intermetallic compd. in the alloyed layer and has the smooth and highly wear resistant surface of the alloyed layer is thereby obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent heat accumulation from occurring in a valve spacing part as well as to keep off the occurrence of a crack in the said part, by forming a thermal spraying layer, consisting of such a material as higher in heat conductivity than a cylinder base material, over an area including a part between a suction port and an exhaust port among surfaces on a combustion chamber part. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber part 1 at the underside of a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine is formed with both suction and exhaust ports 2 and 3, where suction and exhaust valves are set up, and a chamber hole 4. In the suchlike cylinder head, a thermal spraying layer, consisting of such a material as higher in heat conductivity than a cylinder head base material, is formed in a part between a suction port 2 and an exhaust port 3, that is, including a valve spacing part 6 as shown in oblique lines in illustration, and over a wider area than the valve spacing part 6. And, it is desirable that this thermal spraying layer is to form not only the valve spacing part 6 but also a part 7A between the suction port 2 and the chamber hole 4 as well as a part 7B between the exhaust port 3 and the chamber hole 4. With this constitution, speedy diffusion of heat in combustion added to the valve spacing part 6 is well promoted.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance and heat resistance of the sliding surface of a disk rotor by disposing a metal (alloy) having a high tendency to form carbide on the sliding surface and irradiating high-density energy thereto, then subjecting the surface to the heat treatment under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The metallic element such as Cr or Mo or the alloy thereof having the higher tendency to form the carbide than Fe is disposed to the place of a cast iron disk rotor to be formed as the sliding surface. The high density energy is then irradiated thereto to quickly melt and quickly resolidify the metal or the alloy and to form the chilled alloy layer with 0.2-10wt% concn. of the above-mentioned metallic element. The chilled alloy layer is heated to the A1 transformation point or above and the solidus phase temp. or below and is then cooled. The alloyed cast iron layer of 250-400 HV hardness in which the base is pearlite or consists essentially of pearlite, the residual cementite exists at 2-15% and the lumped graphite is crystallized is formed to >=0.2mm depth. The disk rotor having the resistance to heat and wear and excellent workability and rust preventiveness is obtd. by the above-mentioned method.
