By this method, the reinforcement can be dispersed into the matrix metal more uniformly.

Then, the above molten metal is solidified, by which the metal matrix composite in which the reinforcement is uniformly dispersed in the matrix metal with superior adhesive strength can be obtained.

By the above procedure, the wettability of the molten metal to the reinforcement is improved, and the molten metal can be thoroughly infiltrated into the whole of the formed body without requiring the pressurization of the molten metal, the heating of the formed body at high temp., etc. Then, the molten metal infiltrated into the formed body of reinforcement is solidified, by which the metal matrix composite of the prescribed shape in which the matrix metal is filled into the reinforcement can be obtained.

By this method, a reinforcement 10' in which the fine pieces of the fluoride are allowed to adhere uniformly to the surface in a state practically free from peeling off can be produced.
