摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a metal matrix fiber reinforced composite excellent in heat resistane, friction wear properties or the like by mixing, as reinforcing fibers, mixed fibers blended with a specified ratio of inorganic fibers having high hardness and potassium titanate fibers into a metal matrix. CONSTITUTION:As reinforcing fibers, mixed fibers in which the ratio (by volume) of inorganic fibers having high hardness to potassium titanate fibers is regulated to (10/90) to (50/50) are dispersed into a metal matrix. As the representative of the potassium titanate fibers in the mixed fibers as the reinforcing fibers for the composite, the crystalline fibers of potassium hexatitanate (K2Ti6O13) are given, and whisker-shaped fine fibers having about 0.1 to 5mum fibrous size in diameter and about 10 to 200 aspect ratio are preferably used. As the inorganic fibers having high hardness and mixed into the potassium titanate fibers, the ones having about >=6Moh's hardness are preferably used, and, for example, alumina having >=9Moh's hardness or the like are given. As the metal to form a matrix, for example, an aluminum allay or the like are given, and the volume ratio of the fibers in the composite dispersed into the metal matrix is regulated to about 5 to 45%.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a potassium hexatitanate composite fiber excellent in hardness, wear resistance, shearing strength or the like by confining the condition of de-potassium treating and firing at the time of producing the potassium hexatitanate fiber by fusing method. CONSTITUTION:A mixture made by mixing a titanium compound to be converted into titanium dioxide by heating with a potassium compound to be converted into potassium oxide by heating in 1.5-2.5 molar of TiO2/K2O is fused by heating. The fused material by heating is cooled to obtain a fiber lump composed of a potassium dititanate fiber. Next, K ion in the fiber is eluted so as to be 1-13.5wt.% in potassium content while defibrating the fiber lump by treating in a cleaning solution (acidic aq. solution is preferable). Next, the fiber is fired at 900-1300 deg.C. As a result, the potassium hexatitanate composite fiber which is a crystalline composite fiber made by dispersedly mixing crystalline titania in crystalline potassium hexatitanate is obtained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the title fiber having small diameter, short, length and excellent uniformity by quenching and coagulating a heated melt of raw material mixture, treating the coagulated substance comprising potassium dititanate with a cleaning solution, separating, removing potassium and then calcining. CONSTITUTION:First, a mixture of (A) a Ti compound (e.g. synthetic rutile) to become TiO2 by heating and (B) a K compound (e.g. K2CO3) to become K2O by heating is heated and melted and the heated melt is quenched and coagulated to give a coagulated substance composed of potassium dititanate crystal. Then the coagulated substance is treated with a cleaning solution, K ion is eluted and finely separated to give polycrystalline powder substance of potassium titanate hydrate having potassium hexatitanate composition. Finally, the powder substance is dried, calcined potassium titanate hydrate crystal is converted in structure into potassium hexatitanate crystal to give the objective fiber.
