    • A cooling system (1) includes a compressor (12), a first heat exchanger (14), an expansion valve (16), a second heat exchanger (18), piping that connects these components and circulates a refrigerant through these components, a cooling unit (30) that is provided in the piping between the first heat exchanger (14) and the expansion valve (16) and that cools a heat-generating source (31) with the refrigerant; and a connection passage (51) communicating a first passage (21) with a second passage (36), the first passage (21) being the piping between the compressor (12) and the first heat exchanger (14), the second passage (36) being the piping between the cooling unit (30) and the expansion valve (16). The first heat exchanger (14) is positioned higher than the cooling unit (30), and the piping is arranged so that the refrigerant that is condensed by the first heat exchanger ( 14) is caused to flow into the cooling unit (30) by gravitational force.
