    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a charging overvoltage, to enhance a charging property and increase charging efficiency by applying to a lattice a negative electrode active material in which a shrink resistant agent and the sulfate of a fixed quantity of alkaline metal are added to a lead powder. SOLUTION: For a positive electrode plate, a positive electrode active material is applied to the lattice and a plurality of nonwoven fabric clothes made of a glass fiber are interposed between the positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate. For the negative electrode plate, a negative electrode active material in which a shrink resistant agent and lithium sulfate of 0.15wt.% for the sulfate of a fixed quantity of alkaline metal are added to a lead powder. Also, for a method of manufacturing the negative electrode plate, a shrink resistant agent and the sulfate of a fixed quantity of alkaline metal is added to and mixed with a lead powder, and water is added thereto and kneaded and further, one which is obtained by gradually adding dilute sulfuric acid and kneading is applied to the lattice and high-temperature and high-humidity are maintained. Thus, only by adding a compounding agent and a fixed quantity of lithium sulfate, the elution reaction of lead sulfate in charging reaction is accelerated, thereby lowering a charging overvoltage, enhancing a charging property and increasing charging efficiency.

    • PURPOSE:To frame at the end of a mesh lattice when the mesh lattice is cut to a specified dimension by forming a non-machined part on the approximate diagonal line of the mesh lattice, and forming the meshes as approximately rectangular or parallelopiped. CONSTITUTION:A mesh lattice 1 includes an expanded mesh lattice part 2, non-machined part 3, and an electrode ear part 4 which is a current collector. The lattice part 2 constitutes a plurarity of meshes 2a and the non-machined part is located on the diagonal line of the lattice 1. In addition, an ear part 4 is provided at the tip of the electrode. When the lattice part 2 expanded at both ends of the non-machined part is cut to a specified dimension, the lattice is cut after the lattice part 2 is expanded so that the meshes 2a can be approximately rectangular, or parallelopiped. Therefore, a frame 5 is formed at the end of the lattice part after cutting. The forming of the frame 5 prevents meshes 2a having cut or protruding parts from being created at the end of the lattice part 2.
